American Idol 4: What's With The Voting?
The Box of Chocolates Theory

American Idol is like a box of chocolates, you never know what you're gonna get. And, I am beginning to think that it is Forest Gump who is voting for this season's crop of Idol wannabees, because there have been some odd choices. Not so much yet in who has gone home-I think all that have been sent home were certainly not worthy of winning-but more those who have NOT yet gone home.
Case in point number one: Scott Savol. I defy someone to explain to me who his voting block is. If you are a Scott Savol fan and are voting for him, I would love to hear from you. Please explain why? Nothing against him personally, but he has no personality, no stage appeal, no IT factor, no winning smile, and virtually no likeability. He is only an average singer. He is unwatchable. What is that ant trail on his face and neck? He doesn't belong in this group.
Anthony Federov, I understand appeals to the young girl crowd. I can understand that. While he can have a nice voice from time to time, he is very milk-toast and not worthy of being a "star."
Nikko Smith is gravy training on his name. He is a nice guy I am sure, but he usually off key and not particularly memorable.
Anwar, whom I liked at first, is boring me. He often looks scared when he performs.
Nadia can perform, but she isn't a great singer. Vonzell can sing, but I always forget she is in the group until they announce her and she sings. I always say, "Oh yeah, I forgot about her again." Why is that?
This past week I think Constantine showed that he has the potential to be more flexible than Bo. I like both of these guys, but now I see perhaps Constantine going further. He has a nice voice and can work and audience. I am not quite sure why others on this site are so adamant in their hatred of him.
Carrie Underwood is very good and may win. She is watchable.
It's going to get interesting when a few more are weeded out, well, hopefully weeded out. It may come down to the genre of songs they are forced to sing and who can step up and show they can sing anything. Clay and Reuben went as far as they did, because they could sing anything and make it sound good. We'll see who in this group can do that.
