In this week’s American Idol prediction Mike Meilinger Says:
”I didn't even have to watch the show for this week's prediction.
Unless Carrie & Bo don't "show up this week", Vonzell implodes and
Anthony sings his butt off, my bottom two are Vonzell and Anthony.
Anthony should and will go home.
Wow, that was easy!
But then again my bet was on Bellamy Road in the Kentucky Derby and
didn't even know who Giacomo was!!! With that in mind I'd give 50:1
odds on Anthony winning American Idol...Any takers?”
Well, I'll take that bet!
Yes, I realize Anthony was voted
off last night. I still want to place a bet. Am I crazy? Well, I have
been called worse.
Here are my terms for the bet. (Since I am no longer voting, I am done
with having to follow American Idol’s or anyone else's silly rules.)
To represent the money I know I have already lost on the bet, I will
donate my own money on your behalf (with your permission) to Anthony’s
favorite charity. You knew there had to be catch didn’t you.
Why I am picking Anthony’s favorite charity instead of offering to donate
to your favorite charity? Well, I feel that this bet actually has
nothing to do with you, but instead it has to do with my support of
Anthony. Since I am betting in support of Anthony’s talent and betting
that Anthony will have a music career, I feel that the charity that
benefits from the bet should be one that Anthony believes in and
supports himself.
As for not needing to watch the show this week to make your prediction,
it appears sadly that I could have done even better. In the earlier days
when I tried to keep from watching American Idol, some information did
still leak to me. I had heard that the finale was going to be Bo and
Carrie before I even watched American Idol this season and before I even
knew who they were. Looks like I could have saved myself from watching
the entire season of American Idol, since it was already predicted to
me. I was also so burnt out from the previous season that I really
almost did give up on watching American Idol entirely.
So am I glad that I watched American Idol this season? The good still
outweighs the bad for me, I really enjoyed some performances, met new
people, and the end results and rankings just really don’t matter to me.
Watching American Idol was never about who wins first place. What
matters to me will be the careers of the contestants. That is where I
think it will count.
So, did I think Anthony was going to win? To be honest, I had a gut
feeling when I first started watching this season that Anthony was going
to go out fourth, so I was expecting it. However, I never go into any
situation thinking that I am going to lose or that I am backing a loser.
Anthony was and still is my personal favorite and my pick to win
American Idol. I backed Anthony on week to week basis because I enjoyed
his performances, the show is just the not the same without him for me,
and I did believe he and the other contestants had a shot of winning. I
even still like to believe (at the time I writing this) that Vonzell has
a chance of winning, but I am expecting a Bo and Carrie finale.
So can I still take you up on your offer? I will ask other fans of
Anthony if they are willing to support a lost bet too. Fans of other
contestants can do their own version if they like.
I will write about the feedback I receive in a future article.
