Teri Sue: Scott, I am going to tell you straight up that I am a hard core fan of the series 'Who Wants To Marry My Dad' and 'Outback Jack'. Who was your favorite cast member on each of these two series?
Scott: It's hard to pick a single favorite because I really do like all of them but if I had to pick one, it would probably be Stacy because of her sincerity. She approached the whole experience as a real life situation versus just being on a television show. Some of the other women were competing like it was the Olympics and they hadn't even met the Dad yet. Stacy, on the other hand, didn't get aggressive until she truly started falling in love with Marty. It was refreshing to see. Plus, Stacy is just a very cool person and I'm sure we'll remain friends for a long time to come. In regards to Outback Jack, my favorite contestant had to be Jack himself because he was probably the best bachelor I've ever seen on any show. He was rugged, funny, a truly nice guy, and about as heroic as they come and on top of all that, as the women know, not too bad to look at either.
Teri Sue: How much of the writing do you share in? Are there any specific scenes which you would like to remind our readers of? I am personally thinking of wedding dresses. Ring a bell?
Scott: I share in all of the writing on the shows that I Executive Produce. The difference between my shows and the other reality shows out there is that mine are purposely funny. We go for the laughs every step of the way. Before we did Meet My Folks, there was no comedy reality. We basically kicked the comedy reality genre into gear. Comedy reality is about two things - the initial idea and that idea's execution. I lay out the comedy beats of a show before it's even cast. For example, I knew when I left a woman on the steps of a church in her wedding gown - all hell was going to break loose. To remind you of that scene, the kids took the ladies wedding dress shopping without Dad. On the way home, a policeman pulled them over (the women had no idea if he was real or not) and gave them a ticket because there was too many people in the car. The kids had to eliminate a woman right then and there. After a heartfelt goodbye to Nicole, the limo pulled away revealing that we had actually left her, in her wedding dress, on the steps of a church. To make matters worse, a taxicab then pulled up to take her away dragging strings of tin cans behind it with a sign on the back that read, "Just Eliminated." While that appears to be a "little" mean, it was pretty damn funny and it was also completely written before the show was even cast. I know some people took offense to this elimination, including you Teri who said in her recap, "Whoever came up with this idea needs to be sent to their room for a time out!" That comment by the way, was one of the funniest things I'd ever read. The elimination may have been a little mean but it was all done in good fun. Even Nicole thought it was funny and she was the only one I was really worried about.
Teri Sue: Can you share the current status of either the Dads or the Women they chose?
Scott: Marty and Stacy are taking it slow and I'm not sure what the future holds for them. I know they care deeply for each other and I hope their story has a happy ending. At this point though, I'm not sure what is going to happen. On a side note, a little birdie told me that Suzanne, who came in second place, just got engaged to one of her long lost loves who came out of the wood work after our series aired.
Teri Sue: 'Outback Jack'. Are they still together?
Scott: Natalie and Vadim are doing great and looking for a place in Los Angeles to move in together. They really are head over heels for each other. Don't be surprised if these two get married.
