Facing Reality One Night At A Time

Last Night:
I am really enjoying Rock Star: INXS. I haven't seen the numbers on it yet but I hope they are big and I hope they grow. This is good TV. Fantastic music by very talented people. The band INXS along with guitarist and host Dave Navarro make for thoughtful and caring judges. Take note American Idol. And while you're at it, figure out why the performance sound of Rock Star is so much better than that of Idol. Rock Star also gets points for spending serious air time letting the audience get to know the contestants. You become much more involved with these people when you are seeing more than an audition clip and prepackaged home piece. These contestants have already come to life and are being perceived as real people with real lives. All that in two episodes. At this point American Idol would still be concentrating on annoying and obnoxious attention seekers doing the worst auditions possible. Rock Star does not subject us to that. Smart move.
American Idol could learn a thing or two here. Congrats to Burnett and crew. I think it's a hit and I hope the audience proves me right.
The following is not a hit. There are reports that Donald Trump is considering a Black Vs. White edition of The Apprentice. It is not clear whether he is talking about a single challenge or an entire season. Trump is quoted as saying, “Whether people like that idea or not, it is somewhat reflective of our very vicious world. But needless to say, not everybody thinks it’s a good idea.”
Well count me in with the group that does not like it. I am not sure I would agree with Trump's assertion that we live in a "vicious world." But if he is right I can think of little that would be more divisive than that. Perhaps he is trying make his world more vicious. Fortunately I don't think Executive Producer Mark Burnett is that stupid. And I don't think the legal department at NBC would stand for it.
At least I hope not.
It's time for a shameless commercial pitch.
If you are a real Big Brother fan and you are going to be buying the Big Brother Live Feeds, please consider buying them through Reality TV Calendar. It's a better deal than you get through CBS and it's the same live feeds. RTVC gets a kickback on it and hopefully we can eliminate some of those annoying pop-ups.
Tonight:
Having read the above it will be no surprise to you that I am recommending Rock Star: INXS tonight. But there is a lot of Reality TV worth catching tonight. You may need multiple recording devices to catch it all.
I am showing Brat Camp below, but withholding judgement on it until I see the first episode. I'm not sure I can handle watching the teen terrors driving parents and each other crazy. The show was a hit in the United Kingdom and did well on the ABC Family Channel. But if you are looking for relaxing entertainment this is probably not for you.
The Beauty and The Geek Reunion should be fun to watch if just to see Richard annoy the rest of the cast. And the cut is easy and relaxing entertainment. Enjoy the night.
Reality TV Calendar will send you the latest casting calls as soon as they are released. Calls are often short notice with short deadlines. You need to make contact immediately. You can't do that unless you have immediate notification of the call. One Time Payment, Only $7.95.
