The Rebel Billionaire
Viewing Parties Are Everywhere

The Rebel Billionaire may have garnered dismal numbers for its premiere - but it has already secured avid fans. All over America people are getting together to watch the series on Tuesday nights. I imagine that they'll stick around for The Amazing Race 6 2-hour premiere Tuesday, November 16th at 9 pm on CBS. That should make for a really good partnership, though "Rebel" may pale in comparison if CBS has done a better job with TAR's new season than it did with the latest Survivor snoozefest.
The message boards were brimming with reports of these parties and suggestions for new ones in other cities. It is certainly the kind of show you want to watch with friends (and possibly a few shots could make you overlook the inconsistencies in the overall judging process) Here is an example of one of the bigger parties, held in Salt Lake City, hosted by the company run by Shawn:
LoveSac invites you to a viewing party for the second episode of The Rebel Billionaire: Branson's Quest for the Best
On November 9th FOX aired the series premier of its new reality show, The Rebel Billionaire. LoveSac employees, family, and friends watched as Shawn faced his first three challenges. Though we all held our breaths as he was nearly eliminated during the first 10 minutes of the show, he proved himself a great leader during the hot-air balloon challenge. And, of course, his team found him indispensable while scouring the streets of Hong Kong for fortune cookies.
Join us as we watch Shawn take on the wilds of Africa - and his fellow contestants. We will provide food and drink, comfortable seating, and two fabulous giveaways.

Fox over-promoted the show during The World Series and it pissed a lot of people off. There is also a prejudice -this one kills me -because some feel that Branson "flaunts his wealth and title". Hey, Trump has no title - at least not one he'd like to put on his letterhead - and if there has been any flaunting...the point is I never saw too much complaint about his use of The Apprentice to showcase his own holdings and possessions. The resentment may stem from the fact that Branson is British but failed to include any "subjects of the realm" in his cast.
I'll explain why we think he used an all-American cast. First of all, he wants to establish a foothold in America to launch a US version of Virgin Airlines and that may require a US citizen at the helm. Second, The series is produced by American television and with the high liability involved in such an undertaking it was probably easier to have one team of lawyers work out a contract and insurance based on US law.
What ever the reason for the low numbers, anyone who missed the premiere and wants to have an opportunity to see what all of the buzz is about can catch a condensed re-broadcast tonight on Fox at 8 pm.
Thanks to my rebelliant buddies at the REBELSLIVE Forum for the invitation.
Unfortunately I'll have to find a daring few a little closer to home - but if you're in the SLC area check it out! And tell us all about it Wednesday morning! We'd love to hear about any other parties that get started. I'll bring the bubbly -wear your party hat and -as Sir Richard himself advises "Don't forget to bring a clean pair of underwear!"
