Brat Camp - Episode 6
Who's Been Naughty Or Nice?

Recap by Mike Meilinger & Buddy The Dog
August 18, 2005
Just like an overly eager child who can't stand the wait until Christmas, I guess I jumped the gun a little bit. It appears that next week will not only be the Christmas Special, but the season finale as well. I guess I will have to wait one more week before I give the campers their Christmas presents. I have never been one who can keep a secret, so if you want a sneak peek at the presents, just e-mail me and maybe I can be persuaded to tell. As for my daughter, let's just say she is on hiatus. My dog Buddy will be taking her place. Well I guess we should get started recapping this week's show.

Day 37, 5 Days Until Christmas
The first 11 minutes of the show was spent recapping each camper's issues. I was still having a hard time getting the visions of sugar plum fairies out of my head so I really wasn't paying all that much attention. My guess is that if you are interested enough in reading this recap, you already know why each kid is in Brat Camp.
As the kids are out in the desert freezing their butts off, in a cozy office (somewhere in Oregon) the three staff therapists Flying Eagle, Mother Raven and Fire Bear discuss the Holiday Fate of the campers.

Meanwhile, Back At Camp
Tensions are rising pretty high. Frank proclaims that he is going home (no freaking way, Dude!!). Lauren who always seems to echo my opinion blatantly tells him, "No you're not". She thinks that both Frank and Isaiah are fakes, and it really pisses her off (there she goes again…echo…echo…echo). Isaiah calls Lauren (ever so respectfully) the she is the biggest bitch in the world and that she is "So disrespectful". Lauren is not about to give him any until she receives some first. Aspen (the philosopher) jumps in saying her philosophy makes no sense. If each is waiting for respect from the other, then they will get nowhere. That's how wars happen (move over Plato, make room for Aspen).

Do I Sense More Indian Hocus Pocus?
To ease the tension, Fire Bear has a plan of using a structured outlet to release all the negative emotions. Introducing the empty chair exercise (actually the technique seems pretty "advanced" for SageWalk). Shawn is the first on the hot seat. He talks to his birth mom, questioning how she could neglect him for 17 years. He concludes by saying sometimes he wishes she had never gotten pregnant. Lauren takes this opportunity to talk to her father again. This time she doesn't appear to be as sincere or heartfelt as the first time. She does say how she used to hate both her father (for leaving) and God (for taking him). She finishes proclaiming her love once more. And then for the highlight of this week Heather gets up and SPEAKS to her birth mom who has been in a drug-induced coma for 14 years. By doing drugs she was trying to get closer to her mother. She felt the pain that her mother set such a bad example for her to follow. Fire Bear really appreciates the effort (apparently more than I did!!!) Lexie once again steals the show by confronting the man who molested her. She makes the most progress by ending once and for all the power her assailant had on her. There is no doubt in my mind that she will be home for the holidays, guaranteed!

Should I Stay Or Should I Go? .....
