First of all, thanks to Randall The Vandal for filling in for me last week and recapping the show. Great job! And for the record I did NOT agree to never go on vacation again, I will be taking many, many, many more! But it is good to know that such excellent people are available to fill the void.
This week's episode begins with last week's winners, David and Ana bragging about their victory and collecting their additional $1000 from each of the other couples. David brandishes a crow bar just to make sure everyone pays up. Barney and Rose are short of cash (that isn't all they are short of) and David and Ana accept $400 and a plant.
This week's task is to complete the kitchen in six days.
The couples run off to begin their tasks. Sam and Scotty run into Steve and Nicole (The Jerk Man and the Hottie from Randall's commentary, and I must say I do agree, Nicole is pretty much a hottie) at Sears and Sam wants to hide their purchases from Steve and Nicole for some reason. She seems to be paranoid about everything.
Steven and Nicole come up with a great plan to hire Brad and Lew (remember them, the gay guys who were previously eliminated) to custom make a kitchen table and bench seating area for them. Brad and Lew agree, mainly because they can't wait to see Barney and Rose's faces when they show up at the complex.
They got what they wanted. When Brad and Lew arrived and Barney and Rose spotted them, they flipped out. They wanted to know immediately what they were doing there. Brad was reminded of how much he despised the two old coots and said looking at them again made him feel gross. Rose remarked that Brad and Lew were like a bad fungus.
Meanwhile David and Ana are fighting with each other. They argue over the installation of tile. David fires the tile installers and says he can do it himself in three hours. Yeah right. On their reward trip to the spa, the barely speak to each other.
When the other couples get wind of Brad and Lew's presence, they aren't happy either. They think it isn't fair. Oh yeah right, like fairness is what they have always been concerned with. They are all just mad because they didn't come up with the idea first.
The girls and guys are split up for a night out to dinner. The guys trash talk their ladies. The women on the other hand pretty much trash talk each other. Sam doesn't speak or look at Nicole because she is bitter about Nicole coming up with a better idea than her. Sam has so many issues it would take two Dr. Phil's just to get to the bottom of them all. Frankly, she doesn't seem worth the effort. She only seems to care about herself and her own feelings. She exclaims, "I'm not going to play happy just to make somebody happy." Sounds like words to live by Sam. How is that working out for you? You are a pretty happy camper yourself aren't you?
Dave and Ana continue to be at odds, and now their lock for winning is slipping away as their kitchen isn't even close to being completed.
Speaking of not completed, Barney and Rose spent all of their money and now have no money to buy a table for the kitchen. Sam and Scotty do finish, but at the sacrifice of sleep. Sam's says it has been 36 hours without any.
They eventually hear the final horn signifying the end of all work. Now it is up to the judges. They like Steve and Nicole's apartment #1, calling it really nice. They also like Sam and Scotty's apartment #2, saying that it is really, really nice. Apartment #3 of Dave and Ana is about half done. Barney and Rose's apartment #4, thanks to about $31,000 worth of hired labor, is called great, even though they are short a table.
When the decision is announced, it is apartment #1 of Steve and Nicole (and Brad and Lew) which takes the prize. Sam is very upset with the decision. She begins barking about how they stole all her ideas and she should get the credit. Nicole snaps back. So does Steve. Barney chimes in with how their $31,000 should have for sure given them the victory. Steve says he didn't need to spend an additional $11,000 to have drawers that closed automatically. Sam continues to drone on with bitterness. The host remarks that she is never at a loss for words. Steve says, "Just at a loss for first place." Zing! Beautiful.
Next week it all comes down to whose apartment will be sold for the most. Stay tuned.
