I Want To Be A Hilton: Episode 5
High Fashion Poodles
Recap By Adria Valdes
July 28, 2005
This week's episode started with a sports challenge. The teams would be competing in some elite sports of high society. They would be timed and judged on their physical abilities. The players were no longer separated into teams Madison and Park. For this mission, the competitors were regrouped into the Blue team and the Green team for their final team challenge. The Green Team consisted of Niki, Brenden, Vanessa and Latrica. Latrica was the designated captain for this team.
The Blue Team was led by Jakaay and consisted of Jaret, JW and Jules as well. The first game was a croquet challenge. After a timed game of croquet, the Green Team time was 1:00 and the Blue Team's time was 57 seconds. The Blue was the winner. Next up was rowing, a famous sport of the elite. This however, was not your average rowing competition. The teams were only supplied with canoes in order to complete this challenge.
They would have to row their canoes from a bridge to a designated spot in the middle of the lake using only three out of their four players in the boat. For this mission, Latrica sat out for the Green team and JW for the Blue team. The Green team started this challenge off strong but the Blue team failed to keep coordination. Jules continued to complain and kept her team behind. The Green team made it back to the bridge first winning the rowing race. Jules and the Blue team were still struggling in the middle of the lake. Jaret, fed up with Jules' crying jumped off the canoe and into the water.
For the next challenge, the teams met with dog trainer and dog show judge, Andrea Arden for a "best in show" competition. Each team would have to "show" a poodle using toys and praise. They would be judged on time, performance and sportsmanship. The Blue team got a poodle named Tangie. It was love at first sight. Tikka was the poodle given to the Blue team and much different from Tangie, seemed a nervous wreck. The first part of the challenge was to dress the poodles up in three garments of clothing. Once the outfits were chosen, the dogs had to be taken through an obstacle course that included weaving through cones and jumping through a hula hoop. Tangie started off well, but strayed off a few times. Jakaay finally got her through the course. Tikka was not cooperating well with Latrica in the obstacle course. It seemed that Tikka was afraid for the most part and would not respond to Latrica's praise or treats. The next part of the challenge was called "Kiss Me". For this part, the competitors had to try to get the poodles to give them a kiss. Both Tikka and Tangie did well in this section. The elite Olympics were now over and the teams were off to meet with Kathy and await the results of the "best in show" competition. Kathy announced the winner. The Blue Team won the dog competition making the Olympics score 2-1 and naming the Blue team the champions. They were now all off to dinner at Solo.
Latrica complained about her team's performance on the way to dinner. With the other players adding fuel to her fire, Latrica attitude escalated from disappointed to just plain mean. The drama continued at the hotel while everyone got dressed for dinner. Jaret tried to apologize to Latrica but she continued to behave rudely and demanded Jaret to "get out of her face".
The team arrived at Solo to have dinner with champion boxer, Lenox Lewis. The entire team enjoyed good food and conversation, but Latrica remained down, even after Lewis gave each player an autographed pair of boxing gloves.
The Green team arrived at deliberation with Ms. Hilton. It was Brenden and Niki's first time in the hot seat. Niki expressed she thought the weak link was Latrica. Brenden agreed that Latrica had a negative attitude and added that she was at fault for every piece of drama throughout the game so far. Latrica and Brenden lashed out at each other about how they handle the competition. Ms. Hilton seemed very surprised at this exchange of words. The players told Ms. Hilton of why they deserved to stay in the game. Brenden said he think Niki, besides himself deserved to stay. Things became emotional as Niki told the story of how her grandfather gave words of wisdom and inspiration before he passed away. Brenden, Latrica and Vanessa also told their stories of hardships throughout life. This was making the decision harder for Ms. Hilton. In the end, Vanessa, Brenden and Niki were all on "the list" and would remain in the game with the rest of the players. It was the end of the road for Latrica. It seemed that her negativity was just not going to cut it in this competition. Next week, the competition gets more challenging as there are no more team missions.
Next week it's every man for himself.
Stay tuned for some surprises and more updates.
