Last week we left our teams as they were getting ready to start the final mission. Dave told us that the mission would be based on the Seven Deadly Sins. Each team pondered the outcome. Would Coral get bit by another spider, would Syrus's knees hold out, would Katie throw the mission to spite her team? Well, I have all the answers to those questions and many more. Let's begin.
Dave explains that there will be seven parts to the final challenge. He tells us that they may remind us of former challenges and Inferno's. Each team has to have all members complete each challenge before they continue to the next. The first challenge is Lust. Each group will be handcuffed together and they then must run through a set of tires. They must step in each tire. They must then make their way to a huge foam log and straddle it as the team shimmies over it to the end. Last, they must limbo under a pole in Limbo style. Now this sounds easy, but when you think that you have to do it while handcuffed to other people, it makes it harder. Kendal summed it up best, "The first part of the obstacle course is going to be very hard for us because we have eight people." Real World does finish first but not by much, which surprised me because like Kendal said eight people are a lot harder than four.
Part two of the challenge is Wrath. Each group has fifty piņatas that they must break. The piņatas are in team colors and hidden in one is a small container that holds the keys to their handcuffs. After they break all fifty of the piņatas, they must uncuff themselves and move on. Real World only had a slight lead, and they quickly lose it. Road Rulers run in and start beating down the piņatas. Of course Road Rules has Darrell (who is a boxer) and Abe (anyone remember his fight with Donnell), and they tear it up. While smacking down the piņatas, Real World's handcuff's break. MTV lets us know that even though they are broken, they must still find the key. Road Rules breaks all fifty and Abe shouts that he has found the key. They unlock all the handcuffs and they are off to mission three while the others are left to search for their key.
Part three of the challenge is Gluttony. In this challenge each member must eat ten tacitos. MTV gladly shows us that that means Road Rulers must eat eighty tacitos. I guess that was for the math challenged viewers.
Katie is not very happy about this challenge. She informs us she is a vegetarian. She says the tacitos are cold and have flies on them. Everyone is eating and puking. On regular TV they aren't allowed to show people vomiting (I learned that while watching the behind the scenes show about Fear Factor on VH-1), but on cable we get to see it all come up. Boy do we ever, Christena, Katie, Timmy, Abe. The vomit is endless.
Back over at the piņatas, the Real Worlders are still searching for their key. Syrus interviews that the key is in a little red cup about the size of his hand, but it is hard to see because of all the red piņata stuff everywhere. They finally do find it, get the handcuffs off, and race towards the tacitos. The four tear into the tacitos and discover for themselves how nasty they are. Timmy, always the comedian, informs us that they taste better coming up than going down. The Road Rulers finish their eighty and off they go leaving Real World still trying to get down their forty (Thanks MTV).
Part four of the challenge is Envy. In this challenge there are two platforms of oversized bricks. Each team must transfer the opposing team's bricks over a series of narrow bridges. Road Rules decides to create a fire line. Each player will position themselves on the bridges and they will pass the bricks over to the other side. They will try to do as many as they can at a time but they soon figure out they will only be able to do one at a time.
Back over at the tacitos, Coral decides to step it up. She is cramming her mouth and chewing at lightening speed. Mike is proud, "That big mouth of hers finally does some good." Coral even drops a piece on the floor and picks it up and eats it too. After more vomiting, the Real Worlders take off.
It is slow going for the Road Rulers. It seems the fire line was a bad idea. The Real Worlders run in and start grabbing two and three bricks and take off over the bridges. Road Rules finally finishes and races to the next challenge. Real World has closed the gap though. The race is on!
Part five of the challenge is Greed. In this challenge there is a cargo net that is placed four feet off the ground. Going one at a time each member must cross and get off before the other can start. There are seven bags attached to the cargo net. Five of the bags contain prizes, but the other two contain penalty cards worth one minute each. If they choose, the teams can try to get the bags. Right away, you can see that this is not going to be good for Road Rules. They have eight people they have to get over the net and Real World is closing in. Darrell starts them off while Timmy guides him. As more Road Rulers go, we see that Real World has finished part four.
Real World begins part five and tears it up. Both teams have decided not to go after the bags. Timmy reveals the obvious, "We want the $150,000, not a free pair of jeans." With two Road Rulers left to go, Real World finishes and heads off to part six as Abe laments, "They caught up? What happened we were ******* smoking them," Timmy quickly gets over and the Road Rulers run on to the next challenge.
Part six of the challenge is Pride. This challenge is a huge crossword puzzle. Each team has a giant board that looks like a crossword puzzle. They must solve the clues and use the letter tiles provided to spell out those words on the board. Answers can be proper names, places, or events.
Real World arrives first and is immediately stumped by the first clue. Coral lets us know of her hate of crossword puzzles. The first clue asks the name of the place they held their Disco Derby. The Real Worlders know the name but their spelling skills are obviously lacking.
Road Rules finally gets to the puzzle and the game is on. Road Rules quickly figures out the first clue and they spell it right. The answer: El Alebrije. MTV has decided to flash on the screen the correct answer as soon as a team gets it correct. Road Rules quickly finishes the next two clues, (Yellowcard the band that played during the room destruction challenge and Epiphone, the name of the guitar Julie used to destroy the room). It puts the Road Rules team at four while Real World still only has two. On the other side Coral tells the others she is not doing the puzzle. Time for a commercial break.
..........I would now like to express my feelings about MTV. I am sitting here watching commercials and I see the commercial preview for next weeks Inferno Reunion show. Of course like most people it caught my eye. I watched and was upset by the fact that even though the challenge is still going on, this preview has shown me who wins. MTV is notorious for doing this. We knew that Coral was going to put David into the Inferno because the preview showed it. We knew Road Rules was going to throw a challenge and Katie would go into the Inferno against Julie. The previews told us. I hope one day that MTV will realize that telling us what will happen destroys the fun. If I want to know what will happen let me go to the spoiler sites and find out. It takes all of the fun out of it when you just show me. Stepping down off my soapbox and now on with the show............
Back at the crossword puzzle, we find Road Rules stumped by the clue, "Cold girl." Katie steps in and tells everyone she thinks it is Trishelle. She spells it out and she is right. Her team is impressed. I guess Katie decided that the money would be a lot better than revenge. In a classic moment, Veronica interviews, "Who would have thought that both Katie and Trishelle would have helped us?" They figure out the answer to the clue "Lights out" is Jeremy and "Sweet surrender" is Shane. They only have one clue left but they are having difficulty. Holly yells to keep their answers covered while they try to figure out the clue "Booty Babes," Timmy finally figures out the answer is Holly and Coral because they were the two who held the money during the "Come Sail Away" challenge.
Road Rules takes off and Real World realizes they have lost. They still aren't done with the puzzle. Road Rules goes to the final and seventh challenge Sloth. They have to have one member carry another member across the finish line on their back. Christena carries Veronica, Darrell carries Holly, Abe carries Katie, and Timmy carries Kendal to victory. Road Rules wins it all!
Real World is still back at the puzzle. Mike is upset that Coral didn't help more. Coral is upset that they got beat by a puzzle. They do finish the challenge with CT bringing in Mike while Syrus hauls in Coral. They congratulate the Road Rulers.
Dave shows up with the check. He congratulates both teams and presents the check to Road Rules. He tells them they need to sign it. The Road Rulers send up Kendal who signs "Road Rules" in big huge letters. Dave then gives them all plane tickets and tells them this is a ticket to take them to their grand prize. Road Rules ends up with $260,000 ($32,500 each) to spilt and one week later in Malibu we find out that each member has won a new Saturn.
It's done, it's over. congrats to the Road Rulers. They did a great job. In closing the cast reflects on things they learned. We learn that Mike has grown again and that he has found an awesome girl. Sounds very similar to the interview he gave after the Gauntlet except he was talking about Trishelle. Darrell enjoyed his time with Leah. He wished she would have more confidence so she could have done better. Syrus was proud of himself. He says as you get older your mind says one thing but your body says another. I hear you Syrus. Katie is proud of herself. She beat the odds and proved herself. Veronica admits that Katie did come in big. I bet it killed her to admit that. Christena lets us know that even though their were lots of fights and lots of drama, they checked it at the door when the time came and everything came out right.
So the Inferno is over except for the Reunion. It has been a great season. So many questions are left though. Will the reunion answer them? Are Mike and Kendal still together? How about Darrell and Leah? Are the rumors true? Is Abe dating Coral? Will Veronica apologize to Katie? Join me next week for all the gossip and fun of the Inferno reunion.
