Well, as far as reunions go this one was not very good. The show was hosted by Lala, one of the MTV DJ's. It was kind of like when Bryant Gumbel used to host the Survivor reunions. She explains to us that only the last 12 people standing have been asked back for the reunion. I don't think that was very fair. I thought they should have asked all twenty of them back.
After informing us that Road Rules won, she poses a question to the group: "Why does Road Rules keep winning." Now technically this is not accurate. Yes, Road Rules won the last two, but the two seasons before that were dominated by Real World. In Battle of the Sexes, both the men and women's teams only had one Road Ruler each. In Battle of the Seasons, Real World trounced Road Rules. Even though it is technically about even now, Timmy graciously decides to take up a donation for the Real Worlders.
These reunions are usually reserved to see if everyone who hooked up is still together, who hooked up behind the scenes, showing unseen scenes and of course rehashing all the fights. This one will be no different.
First up are the romances. Last time we saw Mike and Kendal, Mike was talking about finding another awesome woman on one of these challenges. Of course, the two are no longer an item. They have decided they are better off as friends. Moving on to Darrell and Leah, we find the same is true for them. They are no longer an item but they have remained friends.
Next we have the unseen romances. There were not as many this time, or if there were, MTV opted not to show them. The rumor mill had Coral hooking up with both CT and Abe. However, it was not mentioned on this show. We do see Veronica hooking up with David. She of course claimed that what little we saw was all that happened. We also see that Mike tried to hook up with Christena. That romance never got going, because Trishelle kept threatening to punch her. I was a little disappointed that there weren't more hook ups. It is a challenge tradition.
Of course, no reunion is complete without a rehashing of the fights. This time there were some good ones. Of course Lala starts with the obvious, Veronica vs. Katie. Katie informs us she knew about all the thrown missions ahead of time. She said her spies (Syrus, Mike, and CT) told each time they were planning something. The two however seem to act as if everything is great. They do acknowledge that they don't care for each other, but they have decided to move on. At least until the next mission, because you know these two will be back.
I would like to a moment to discuss the whole throwing of missions. When they were brought up during the show, Abe goes on this tirade about how he didn't want to throw missions. They "made" him do it. Christena asks him why he laughed about it and made jokes and he had no good answer. I am not sure what is up with Abe, and it could have all been editing, but he looked like a very willing participant to me. Kendal also maintains that she did not know about throwing the mission to save Timmy. Timmy also takes offense when Lala asks why Timmy was scared to go into the Inferno. He tells us he was not afraid. I don't believe that, everyone is afraid to go. If you lose, you lose the money and that is the whole purpose of being there. The Inferno is not a fun place to be.
We shall now turn our attention to Coral. Coral of course had problems with both Trishelle and Julie. Her problems with Trishelle were leftover from the Gauntlet. While I usually don't defend Coral, here she was in the right. Trishelle was upset because Mike was moving on and she took it out on Coral. If someone threatened to beat me up, I would have sent them to the Inferno too. Julie on the hand is something that has been brewing for years.
Let me see if I can break down the whole Coral hates Julie saga. First off I will say that Coral has every right to dislike Julie. Coral is friends with Melissa, Julie's old roommate during her Real World season. According to Melissa at her website, Julie and her Mom have been ripping off Real World and Road Rulers for years. Julie's Mom will tell cast members she will get them speaking engagements at colleges. She tells them she only charges a nominal fee.
This is a lie, according to Melissa she was taking almost half of the money. To top it off, if you didn't use her as your manager she would bad mouth you to colleges. Melissa found out that Julie's Mom had called one college and when they told her they already had Melissa signed up, she informed them that Julie was cheaper, friendly, and would sign autographs, and Melissa didn't. She did this to Coral, Danny, and a few others. I can see why Coral dislikes her so.
Back to the fights, Coral lets us know she hates Julie. Lala asks everyone else if they hate Julie. Veronica and Coral are the only ones who really hate her. Syrus however was the only one to defend her. You can tell that while they don't hate her, she is not one of the favorites.
No reunion would be complete without some unseen footage. We got a few good clips. We discover that Julie peed on Coral's bed. She also admitted to it on tape. I don't care how much you dislike someone, peeing on someone's bed is just gross. They show us clips of people talking about Coral's breasts. Now while her breasts are huge, I could have done without a whole set of clips about them. We also see clips of everyone talking about the house being haunted. Christena swears she saw the ghost but no one will believe her. Last clip we see is Abe cussing and storming out of the Kendal/Leah Inferno. I am not sure what is up with Abe tonight but either he is the victim of really awful editing or he has multiple personalities. I am going with the latter.
At the end of the show we are shown clips of the new season of Road Rules. We meet our new cast: Patrick, Derrick, Danny, Ibis, Kina, and Jodi. The new season looks good. It looks like they will be doing some very extreme challenges and from the previews, I think they wreck the Winnie. Lala asks the others what they think of the new cast and Syrus wants to know where the brothers are. They inform us that this is the first time all the black people have ever made it to the end of a challenge. That is always good to know.
In conclusion, I would like to thank you for joining me this season for the Inferno. The next challenge is rumored to be another Battle of the Sexes. No date has been set but I hear they will begin taping very soon. Hopefully next time we can get some new blood. I don't know about you, but I would love to see some different people. Any suggestions can be sent to me email address. Maybe we can convince MTV that we don't want to see Coral, Veronica, Katie, Mike, or Trishelle again. See you next week for the first episode of Road Rules Extreme!
