The show got down to business right away. Jordis was awarded the encore
performance. Yeah! I definitely agree. Somehow she sounded even better
than she did last night. Jordis is getting a career out of this show, no
matter what happens. This is another thing that I love about the show
and why I am puzzled over the low ratings. For the viewer, the show is
more than finding a lead singer of INXS; one also gets to see some great
performances too.
Brooke asks the contestants once again if they thought they are in the
bottom three, to please raise your hands. The camera is right on Ty and
Ty and several others raise their hands. This gives me a bad vibe for Ty.
Brooke announces the bottom three. They are Brandon, Tara, and Ty.
I am
surprised about Ty, even though he had a weak performance last night,
his week is still alright. I think support for Ty has been waning since
many feel that he is not right for INXS for various reasons. I
personally think Ty would be better off as a solo act, but I can almost
see Ty and INXS fitting together too, so I still think Ty is a contender
for the lead singer spot. However, I really don't know what INXS is
thinking and they will make the final decision.
How did I do on my prediction? Well I guessed Brandon and Tara, but I
thought Deanna would have been in the bottom three instead of Ty. A lot
of fans have expressed that they are not comfortable with a female lead
singer and the guys seem to be more popular than the females, with the
exception of Jordis. I really figured that the bottom three would be
Brandon and two females. This means that people are voting for the
female contestants. I personally have no problem with a female lead, so
I am glad to see support for the female contestants. It is the votes
that count, not the overall perception of fans. I would like to think
that any contestant still has a fair shot.
INXS is surprised to see Ty there based on his overall talent, but based
on his performance last night, it makes sense. Ty came across as very
humble and down to earth to me, he was quite gracious about it. Ty's
attitude toward winning has really never bothered me, because it reminds
me of a prize fighter going to the ring. I think however that some fans
thought Ty has been too smug.
To my surprise Brandon is cleaned up and wearing a suit. Brandon does
look a lot better, but I am not sure if the image fits Brandon. Brandon
was surprised to see himself there, thought he sang better last night.
Brandon did raise his hand last week for being in the bottom three, but
he probably figured since he was safe then and improved this week, he
would be safe. With a lower number of contestants left, the competition
level rises each week.
Tara looks the best I have seen her as well. Tara is in the bottom three
for the third time. She is mellow this time, almost as if she accepts
her fate. I hope she has not given up.
INXS tells each contestant what they are going to sing all at once. The
tell Ty that they have chosen "Kick" for him to sing. Ty says he is
ready. INXS tells Brandon that he will sing "Devil Inside". Brandon
seems too enthusiastic upon hearing the song selection. INXS tells Tara
that she will be singing "Beautiful Girl".
After a commercial break, Brandon sings first. Jon has joined the house
band on drums and Andrew is playing rhythm guitar. It is great that they
love performing their own songs. Brandon sings with his typical vocals
that do need some work. He really does seem like he wants to be there
and attempts to work the crowd.
Tara is next and is heartfelt. She has a goodbye quality to her voice.
Tara seems to be acting as if she thinks she is going home.
Ty is last and puts kick into the song selection of "Kick". He is smiling
and too upbeat for the lyrics, but this is still my favorite performance
from him. The spontaneity of the song selection has helped Ty to seem
more natural. I believe Ty can adapt.
After another commercial break, INXS announce their decision. Ty is
first and they tell him that he sang fantastic and that he might as well
stage dive over to the other contestants because he is not going
anywhere.
This leaves Brandon and Tara in the bottom two. They tell Brandon that he
had better stage presence than vocals, while Tara had the opposite
problem; she had better vocals than stage presence. The vocal coach says
that Brandon potentially had one of the best voices and their decision
is to give Brandon another chance.
Tara is eliminated.
