As per scheduled tonight's episode took us back earlier into the series with the McRoberts family. The call came into Nanny Central and after several gasp's and tsk tsk's, Lillian makes her choice of Nanny Deb. Butler with his constant response forever and a day says," yes." Like his opinion really matters. Have you ever wondered if he is even real? He reminds me of those figures people in the South place on their porches at Halloween. You know they stuff clothes with hay or leaves to make them look human, but aren't. Anyway, the choice is made and off Nanny Deb goes with her umbrella carried by the wind over roof tops to land her in the neighborhood of the McRoberts where she will work her nanny magic.
Where do we begin with this bunch? We'll discuss fertility drugs later. Dianna and Doug McRoberts have a beautiful family of 5 boys, yes, you heard me right 5 boys. Not 5 pregnancies, just two, you do the math.
Ok, I'll help; her first pregnancy gave her triplets, the second twins. Now I will be the first to admit, that initially that sounds like every guys dream as a daddy. Five boys, heck, that is half a basketball team right there. Then we enter the world of the McRoberts and instantly anything that once resembled peace is shattered, gone forever. Insert earplugs…
The shouting and screaming and noise are unbelievable, and that's mom and dad. The boy's doing as all kids do are parroting and learning from their role models. Ok, mom and dad shout constantly, so we are supposed to do that to right? The old adage do as I say, not as I do is total tomfoolery. As adults and parents we set the example for our children. They learn all there is to know in life from us. The boys to me are just overly rambunctious. Until we learn that mom has cabinets filled with sugar and candy that would put Willy Wonka to shame. Not only do the boys have free access to these batteries of sugar, but mom encourages them to eat it.
After lunch, a mid-day snack consists of 2000 grams of sugar per child. Ok, let's break this down mom. If someone is diabetic, what do you think happens to them if one day you give them a little insulin and the day after a lot of insulin and so on and so forth? That's exactly what you are doing to these children. You are providing them with sustenance that could launch a rocket from NASA. Dad, where is he? He stays far away at work in the confines of his quiet office as a tax professional. Ok, is it just me or is that cause for Munchausen by husband?
Mommy deals with the basketball team all day hopped up on sugar and then daddy comes home only to fuel the energy with his being tired from work and barking orders. The kids are yelled at from so many directions they don't know who to listen to. The kids, Sam in particular, become frightened increasingly by their father and his forceful grabbing and barking tone. Mommy by this time is hoarse and just follows suit.
Praise be that Nanny Deb floats in. She spends her normal first day watching as Mom deals with the kids until dad comes home for lunch. Deb scrolls her notes of wisdom in her nanny book and bulges her eyes several times at the physical aggression these boys put upon one another and the lack of respect for their parents. Deb notes dutifully that daddy barks, eats, barks and heads back to work leaving mommy to deal with all of it. Could you not have taken a vacation knowing that Deb was coming? How rude.
