Outback Jack: Episode 4
Big, Athletic, Muscular Women
Recap By Marlena Montpetit
July 14, 2004
This week's episode takes off where last week's finished again!! We see the 5 remaining women awkwardly getting on the camels. Poor Jack has to walk in front of them the whole way to camp!! But I really don't think he even minded!! He said it felt like "Lawrence of Arabia"! Who is he kidding? He has 5 women who look weird on the camels; he has Natalie who says her bruises have bruises from the seat they are riding on, and another woman asking if they can stop for a potty break!!! Even Jack finally admits to the camera man that it's not all that "Lawrence of Arabian" after all!!
Partway to camp, the girls leave the camels behind as Jack thought it would be nice to give the girls a chance to freshen up with a swim, the girls were definitely up for that!
What they didn't know was they would have to jump off a cliff to get in the water!!
Well of course Jack is 1st up and he dives in without a problem!! These girls are scared to jump the cliff! I can't believe it considering they jump out of a plane in the 1st episode!! All the girls jump and make it into the water; the only woman that really wasn't scared of the cliff was Maria, who said after skydiving, this is nothing!
After the swim, there is a great picnic awaiting all the women and Jack. Here again, Host JD appears and the girls have all officially deemed him "the bearer of bad news". They hate to see him show up!! He explains that everything is gonna change! Here comes their challenge!! Off the top of a very high cliff, 5 muscular, athletic outdoorsy type women come flying over the edge with ropes!! All the women repel down the cliff and as they are walking towards everyone, Jack's girls are in disbelief!!
JD tells everyone that these women are their new competition!! He explains that for that night everyone is going to camp together, but the next day there will be a competition between the new girls and the old girls....if the old girls win, all the new women pack it up right away......but if the new girls win, then 1 of them stay and 1 of the old girls go home! You could feel the tension in the air that night; you could probably cut it with a knife! Even Jack says that he is protective over his group of girls and he says the new girls will have to earn respect because his girls have come a long way!
Next morning, everyone packs their stuff again because any of them might be leaving!! JD greets them at where they will do the challenge and as they all thought, it is something physical. JD explains the whole obstacle course which includes hay stacks, digging under logs, going thru a maze of wood, climbing ladders to cross netting and slide down a rope, the last part is a rolling log that all 5 girls must cross prior to finishing at the finish line........ When the challenge started, I really thought that Jack's girls had a really good chance to beat the Amazonians! They were doing really good! Then both teams tied it up at the rolling log and I knew at that moment that 1 of the girls that we have grown fond of was going to go home! The new girls cross the finish line 1st but the real prize goes to Jack's girls for not giving up and completing the challenge to the end without giving up! Even Jack is shedding some tears and I think those are a combination of sadness as 1 has to go and also that he is really proud of them!
JD tells him it is time, out of the new women he picks Meri-de to stay, which is probably the best pick out of the big, athletic, muscular women..........When it comes to the old girls, he chooses Mary to go home!! He never really gave a reason why he chose her to go...all he said was that he loves her personality and the way she is crazy with everything she does...he told her to never change!! I personally love the way Mary is!! She is 1 of a kind and I don't think she'll be forgotten!!
That night at camp, the old girls miss Mary, it is obvious that they have nothing in common with Meri-de, who isn't the nicest either, as she makes fun and mocks the girls non stop. Jack only thinks it's fair that he get to know Meri-de as he already knows his girls...... He asks Meri-de to go on a dinner date with him, she says yes! Okay Ladies, pick your jaws up off the ground! The girls are in shock and they hate the fact she is already spending alone time with him without earning it.
Their date goes pretty well, they are looking for a lot of the same things...he thinks she is a very natural and genuine person and she thinks he is what she might be looking for! After the date, they rejoin the women who are sitting around their supper table, when yet again, JD comes to camp!! Everyone including Jack is expecting some bad news, but JD surprises them and tells them to pack up cuz their flying to civilization.....The girls can't wait as JD explains they will be staying in a 4 star hotel, with spa treatments and all the shopping they can handle! Meri-de yet again makes fun of the other ladies! Does she think they are going to be nice to her with her acting like that! I can truly see her being the outcast here.
Next morning, everyone is ready to go; the girls are excited to bring Jack into Perth where it is a big city to enjoy what they all love most. Jack drives the ladies to the spot where they will fly out of the outback. JD is there again and he tells Jack that there is 1 problem; there is only enough room on the plane for him and 4 of the ladies! Another elimination?!?! Already! Too soon!! I don't want anyone else to go! Well maybe Meri-de as she is already on my nerves...Jack says he doesn't want to do it as another lady is gonna get heartbroken......what will he do? I can't stand the thought of 1 more of the original women going home as they have all worked so hard. Jack has a decision to make and we won't know it till next Tuesday, thanks to those magical words "to be continued".....
