Outback Jack: Episode 5
Down and Out in Perth
Recap By Marlena Montpetit
July 21, 2004
The episode starts with Jack making his decision of who to leave behind while everyone else gets pampered in Perth! He easily picks Natalie, Maria and Cortney to go along...... That leaves Adrienne and Meri-de standing waiting for their fate to be decided. Adrienne doesn't have a clue because she couldn't read Jack and Meri-de feels that his choice could be impacted by the fact that he hasn't known her all that well! I honestly felt that Adrienne deserved to have the pampering, only because she has been in the outback a lot longer than Meri-de's 1 day journey, but as Jack made his decision to keep Meri-de and send Adrienne home....he reminded me that the show is about him finding the right women and he felt that Adrienne is very special but they were lacking passion and Adrienne agreed with that, so obviously it wasn't meant to be. Jack kept Meri-de because he felt they had a good connection and he wanted to explore it more.
Once in Perth, Host JD meets the women in the lobby of the most luxurious 5 star hotel in the city, he lets them know because they have been such good sports about roughin' it in the outback, the show has decided to put them up in the luxury suites......JD tells the women that there will be 2 to a room so pick a partner, Meri-de quickly grabs Jack's arm and the host tells her "nice try, pick a woman!" So Natalie and Maria pair up and Meri-de and Cortney pair up too!!
The ladies make their way up to the suites and of course once they are up there, there is a girlie party going on!! Lots of laughing, screaming and making big deals out of things like, flooring, flushable toilets, bathtubs, robes, king size beds with Egyptian cotton sheets, balconies the size of an apartment!!! The only thing that I personally found funny about the whole ordeal was the fact that Meri-de made a big deal out of everything, giving the impression that she has had it tough for a while....gimme a break!! She was in the outback for 1 day!!!!
The girls all get into robes and pick Jack up for the spa treatments. The 4 girls are having a riot living the lap of luxury because they feel very dirty and disgusting so they are enjoying their manicures, pedicures, facials, seaweed wraps, etc. Meanwhile, I don't think Jack's mouth shut once, he was constantly complaining about everything! They even waxed his back, he thought it was really gonna hurt but geez he didn't even flinch! Lucky him!
That night while the other girls are relaxing in their beds and enjoying themselves, the girls think Maria is in Cortney's room, meanwhile the camera shows Maria riding the elevator in a very sexy dress and she is heading to Jack's room and confessing she is a bad girl! Jack answers the door and then closes it on the cameras leaving our imaginations running wildly outta control!
The next day they all go shopping and after Jack tries on numerous outfits that look very bad on him, he tells the ladies from the change room that he has found one he likes and he comes out and he is wearing his own clothes! I have to agree, he looked best in his own shirt and jeans!
That day the girls think something is up with Maria, because she keeps pulling Jack away from the group, she is becoming very clingy and she isn't acting normal.
Later that day, the ladies get to take Jack on private dates, and all the dates go really well. Maria takes him to Yoga, Meri-de takes him on a picnic, Cortney takes him to a lounge for drinks and Natalie takes him to a club and art exhibit. I would say the best date was Cortney's because it was natural and he said it felt right and it was the most relaxing moment he has had since the journey began!
In the evening, the bearer of bad news shows up, we all know by now that means JD! He tells Jack that he has one other elimination in the morning before heading back to the Outback. The girls are upset and Jack is devastated.
In the morning JD meets the ladies only and tells them they have one hour to choose luxury or Jack, he will present them with keys and the first lady that grabs the key gets a two week paid vacation in the suite at the hotel, with spa treatments, meals, shopping, and limos. Everything they could ever want but, if they choose luxury, they lose Jack and they go home!
All the women are tempted because it's hard to know where they stand as feelings are growing stronger and stronger.
They meet Jack and JD tells him about the ladies decision, and we learn that the 4 ladies turned down the offer because they all want their chance with Jack. He feels horrible because now he must send oen of them home after what they just gave up. Oh well, sometimes you have to risk it to see how far something will go! The ladies can get a four star hotel anytime, there isn't always the chance to meet a guy like Jack!
He picks Meri-de, Maria and Natalie to go back to the Outback and he sends Cortney home! I was a little shocked with that decision since his date went so good with her the day before. Cortney hopes she left him with the idea that romance still exists, she knows that her soul mate is out there somewhere, she just knows he isn't in Australia now!
When the girls are heading back to camp, a few of them say they are on their way home and Jack likes the sound of that. Once back at camp, JD shows up again to tell them they are not the only ones who decided to come back, the bushes move a bit and out of the bush comes Marissa looking refreshed and beautiful as ever. Jack's face couldn't lie at that point in time. He is very very happy she is back and welcomes her with big open arms and a huge kiss. The girls feel horrible because Jack likes her a lot and he didn't send her home, they did. So they know Marissa's here to stay this time! Next week should be interesting; I think it will be revenge time for Marissa, who could blame her? Not me!!
Just an FYI, if anyone is a Maria Fan, you can see more of her as she is currently competing to become a WWE Wrestling Diva, you can see her on RAW on Monday nights or check out their website to see more of her by clicking here.
