Road Rules 13: Episodes 12
Extreme Sweating
Recap By Cari C.
August 24, 2004
Are you kidding me? Extreme sweating? All of the brilliant minds at MTV and all they could come with was extreme sweating? MTV created reality television and we are to believe that they thought collecting sweat in a cup would be entertaining?
So who else was grossed out last night? Between watching Jillian and Patrick doing whatever it was they were doing, Angela complaining nonstop, and watching grown women collect sweat off of men, I was pretty sick myself.
It started off where we left off last week. Angela is still complaining about Jillian. She does not like Jillian. Hey, I don't care for her either but I won't waste time out of my day to continually whine about it. Angela must disagree because that is all she does. Angela, we get it, you don't like Jillian.
The real question is why? Does she secretly harbor feelings for Patrick? If she does she is insane. I mean the guy slept with a girl on the first day he knew her. Could Jodi be right, is Angela jealous of all the attention Jillian is getting? If so she needs to get over it. You can't be the center of attention all the time.
Could the real reason be that Jillian is annoying? I would vote for that reason. Jillian is not the brightest crayon in the box and her voice is so annoying. Angela needs to get over it or if they lose she will be the next one to go home.
The first five or six minutes of this week's episode deals with Angela complaining to everyone and their brother about Jillian. She goes out to dinner with Nick and spends the whole dinner complaining about her. Nick looks like he wants to be anywhere but there. Patrick and Derrick are growing a little tired of her bellyaching. They can't understand why she has such an intense hate for Jillian.
The group gets their clue to the mission. They need to wear swim suits and tennis shoes and meet at a hotel the next morning. Angela couldn't care less about the mission. She is hoping they lose because she wants to go home. She is very unhappy being there.
The next morning the group arrives at the hotel. There mission is to run around and exercise and produce as much sweat as possible in one hour. They must scrape the sweat off of them into cups. At the end of one hour they must have accumulated one full cup of sweat.
Yes, that really is the mission. They must scrape sweat off of their body into a cup. The group begins and soon realizes that the girls are not sweating so they will let the boys do the sweating and the girls will do the collecting. I bet they feel real lucky. Who wouldn't want to scrape sweat off of men into a cup?
Angela has decided to do as little as possible. She wants them to lose so she can go home. She does scrape some sweat off of Nick but she is really grossed out. Jillian has designated herself as Patrick's sweat collector. The two are doing some interesting "exercises" so that she can make him sweat more. Looked more to me like a replay from last night.
The guys keep sweating and the cups are getting full. It is really nasty. I never knew that collected sweat has a sort of cream to light yellow coloring. The time expires and the mayors Carolina and Delphina come in to measure what they have collected.
I bet they were thrilled. I wonder if this is what they expected when they signed up. They start out with Patrick because they say his is the darkest. He almost produced a cup by himself. Nick's is poured in next. He had the most sweat of the three guys. His sweat puts them over the top. They won the mission.
The group is flying high. They have won two in a row. Well, everyone but Angela. She realizes she is stuck. The group returns to the RV and the tears begin to flow. Jodi tries to talk to her but she just wants to be alone. I feel kind of bad for her in a way, but in a way I don't. Has she never seen an episode of Road Rules? The casts always have a Jillian.
Angela calls her boyfriend and he tells her to keep her chin up and keep trying. Derrick and Patrick are still upset with her. They can't get why she has such a problem with Jillian. Derrick decides it's time to say something.
He takes Angela out and the two talk. He tells her he understands her problems, but she needs to get over them. He tells her everyone wants her there so she needs to try. She needs to get over Jillian. He tells her that Jillian is young and can be annoyed but she needs to chill out. Angela agrees.
That night Angela sits down to have a conversation with Jillian. I can understand why Angela would have a hard time. Jillian is not a conversationalist. Her voice is annoying. Angela does well though. The two find common ground and it looks like all will be well.
Next week is the annual battle of the seasons. The South Pacific crew rolls into to town. Abram will be back being himself, which should be interesting. Mary Beth also makes an appearance. Could she and Patrick hook up? Will we have to spend the whole show hearing about how much Jillian hates Mary Beth? See you next week.
