Have I really missed two weeks of Road Rules? I can't believe I have missed that many. First I was on vacation and then my son has an allergic reaction to a bee sting. Thank goodness I get to write about it this week. I watched the show last night in complete disgust. What is wrong with Patrick? I mean I know Jillian is a little over the top with the whole I'm falling in love bit, but really, Patrick is a dog.
We start the night off with Jillian telling us how this thing with Patrick started off as physical but has turned into something more. She thinks she is falling love with him. Patrick reminds us that it is just a physical relationship. He can't promise Jillian anything. He is not ready to start another relationship.
The group heads over to McDonald's to get a bite to eat.
While there, Jillian tells Derrick she loves Patrick. Derrick reminds her about Courtney, Patrick's ex-girlfriend. She doesn't seem to care. Derrick thinks she is living in a fantasy world and that Patrick is going to break her heart.
Back at the RV, the group gets their next clue. In the next mission the will have to come to the rescue. They must meet the next morning at a ski lodge and wear warm clothes. The group thinks they will have to rescue someone, possibly some sort of water rescue. No one is really sure.
The next morning the group arrives at the ski lodge. Since the lodge is up on a mountain, it is extremely cold. They meet their new mission mayors Tomas and Contanza. They inform them of the rules for this mission.
In this mission four team members will ride in one gondola while the other two are in a separate gondola. One of those two people will be the victim. Members of the larger group will have to rescue the victim by sliding across the lines between the two gondolas. Once all four are across and inside, two of the group must repel down while the other attach the victim to the stretcher and lower him down.
Once the victim is lowered down, the group must then transport the victim to the ambulance while still on the stretcher. As an extra-added bonus, the group is in charge of getting their own medical supplies from one gondola to the other and then back down. The group is shown the gondolas and told that they will be dangling 16,000 feet in the air.
A demonstrator is brought in to teach the group to repel. He decides that Patrick will be the victim. Patrick is not happy. While the others get to do all the cool stuff, he has to lie on a stretcher. Jodi will be the other passenger in Patrick's gondola. She will be the one screaming for help.
The others learn the techniques of repelling. Once they have it, the group's head up. Once they are in place, Derrick is the first out of the gondola. He is having a hard time. He remarks how numb his hands are and hard it really is. He of course is also bringing over the medic kit so it does make it a bit difficult. He finally does make it and Angela is next up.
Angela is bit scared. She saw how hard of a time Derrick had and is worried. She also remarks about how numb her hands are but slowly she makes it over. Nick is out next. He must attach the stretcher, cross the wire, and then pull the stretcher over. As usual, Nick is great and quickly makes it across and pulls the stretcher over with no problem. This leaves us with just Jillian to cross. While she is a bit slower than Nick, she does make it over and the first part of the mission is a success.
Once the group is together again, they decide to let Angela and Jodi go down first and catch Patrick. I am not so sure that was the best idea. I mean why would you pick your two weakest people to catch your biggest member dangling in the sky. Angela and Jodi head down. Once they reach the bottom, the others begin to lower Patrick.
At first Patrick swings around a little but they soon get him down. The girls do have a bit of trouble getting Patrick flat on the ground. They actually have him on an incline. Derrick is the next to repel. Once he gets to the bottom, he helps the girls get Patrick in a better position. Jillian is next down followed by Nick. As Nick prepares to repel the group realizes they have left the medic kit up in the gondola. They yell at Nick to bring it. If they forget it, they lose the mission.
Lucky for them, Nick hears and brings the kit down with him. With the whole group down on the ground, they begin the daunting task of carrying Patrick to the ambulance. Patrick is no little thing and this is not flat land they are walking one. If they drop him, they fail the mission. After some initial trouble, the group finally puts Patrick in the ambulance and wins the mission. The group is ecstatic. Not only did they get their key, they also each got a $500 gift certificate for American Eagle. The group heads back to the RV to celebrate.
Back at the RV, Patrick brings out some pictures of Courtney and begins showing them to Angela. Jillian walks up and is disgusted. This of course irritates Patrick. He just doesn't get it. Jillian goes off by herself while Angela remarks that Patrick needs to stop using Jillian if all he wants is something to tap every night.
In his infinite wisdom, Patrick decides now would be the best time to call Courtney and see what is going on. After viewing this season, I hope Courtney has the good sense to dump his sorry butt. Jillian is even more confused than ever. I truly believe that Jillian does love Patrick. This girl is only 18. She has just graduated high school. I know she is not innocent but Patrick needs to speak up and tell her the truth. In typical man fashion, he won't. He knows if he tells her the truth, then she won't have sex with him anymore and that is all he really cares about.
Derrick decides to talk to Patrick. He tries to explain to Patrick how Jillian feels. He doesn't want to see Jillian hurt and he feels Patrick is doing just that. I must say I really admire Derrick for doing that. Many guys would probably high-five Patrick for his conduct. I never thought I would say this, but I think Derrick has become my favorite this season.
Next week is the season finale. I can't wait to see if Angela loses it in the final mission and costs everyone the big prize. Fear not faithful Road Rules fans, The Battle of the Sexes II is coming next month and many of this season's cast will be joining in the fun. Derrick, Patrick, Nick, Ibis, Kina, and Angela will all be joining challenge regulars for more challenges, adventures and of course drama. Have a great week!
