Road Rules 13: Episodes 8
Leap Of Faith
Recap By Cari C.
July 27, 2004
As you may remember, last week we got a new cast member. If you don't, that's okay. This season is becoming such a snooze that I almost forgot his name too. Nick and company are all set to begin a new challenge this week. Since this is MTV, I can already tell you they lose. How do I know? Am I physic you might ask? No, I wish I was that cause that would be really cool. Unfortunately, I like all of you our readers were forced to endure MTV's idea of a preview.
I am going to go ahead and get all this all out of my system before I recap. Hope you don't mind. First, why does MTV have to show what happens in the previews. This is the equivalent of CBS showing us who won the immunity challenge on Survivor in the previews. We want to be surprised. We want to root for the team to win the challenge so that no one gets voted off.
Last night it was like why even watch the mission, they loose. Another thing that bugs me about MTV is those stupid Capri sun commercials. Do we really have to see that commercial four times in 30 minutes? We got a long time ago that Capri Sun big pouch is the sponsor of Road Rules X-Treme. Please spare us from that annoying old woman at the end who yells "shotgun." I can't take it anymore.
Well, I know I feel better. Now if I could just convince MTV that the same people don't always have to be on the Challenges (Yes, Veroniho I do mean you!) all would be right at MTV. Anyhow on to the recap.
Last night started with a birthday party. It is Kina's 20th birthday and the group has surprised her with a mini brownie cake. It is actually just two brownies stuck side by side with a two and a zero candle on top, but whatever. She is so excited to be with her friends on her birthday. They have even given her two crowns that she can wear. She decides to wear both. The group sits down to eat the "cake."
That night the group takes Kina clubbing for her birthday. Of course that means there will be drinking. Both Kina and Jodi meet this cute English guy named Boris. They both like him but he eventually chooses Jodi. The two begin to make out on the dance floor. Kina is ticked off.
Apparently when Jodi drinks she likes to make out with people. Ibis remarks "When Jodi drinks, she becomes a real slut." Now that is putting it bluntly. Kina becomes more furious as she and Ibis talk and eventually decides to leave with Derrick. As they walk back to the RV, Derrick also remarks about what drinking does to Jodi. This coming from the King of drunken stupor. Kina tells him that Boris made the right choice in Jodi. She says he looked at her and saw difficult and looked at Jodi and saw easy. MEOW!
Jodi finally realizes that Kina is mad at her. Ibis must have tipped her off. She heads back to the RV and tries to make things right. Kina is not having it. She is pretty mad. Jodi is upset because she really likes Kina. She thinks the two of them could be really good friends. She seems like she is really sorry, but Kina walks off. Since we know someone is getting the boot, this does not bode well for Jodi.
That night they get a clue that tells them to jump at the chance to take aim. They believe their mission has something do with jumping into something. The next morning they head out to the beach and see a helicopter flying overhead. They wonder if they will be jumping out of it. The mayors Carolina and Cristobal appear and tell them that yes, they will be jumping out of the helicopter.
In Leap of Faith, the group will be split into pairs. Each person will be expected to jump twice. They must jump into one of three diamonds. The smallest green diamond is worth five points, the middle size orange diamond is three points, and the largest yellow diamond is worth one point. In the first jump, one of the pair must be blindfolded. They will be guided by their partner.
After the first person jumps the remaining partner must jump with no blindfold. Each team will then repeat but this time the second partner will be the one in the blindfold. The team can earn a total of 60 points but they only need 40 to win. The first team to go will be Jodi and Patrick. Jodi will be the first one blindfolded.
The two go up and Patrick does not do a good job guiding. Jodi misses and receives no points. Patrick takes his turn. He comes really close but he too receives no points. The group begins to worry. They are not sure Jodi is fully into the mission. Patrick and Jodi head back up. This time Patrick is blindfolded. Jodi guides him to a perfect jump and he earns five points. Jodi takes her jump and she again earns no points.
