Road Rules 13: Episodes 9
Communicate Or Go Home
Recap By Cari C.
August 3, 2004
Last week the group had decided to draw names instead of voting Jodi off. When we left, both Jodi and Derrick each had a vote. With three more people left to vote, who will be the unlucky one to get the boot?
Both Jodi and Ibis have both voted so up next to vote is Derrick. He pulls Kina's name out. Patrick is up next. Unless he pulls out his own name, he is safe. He pulls out Ibis's name. This means Patrick is safe and cannot go home. With only Kina left to draw, the tears flow even more. Everyone is worried that they will be the one to go. Kina reaches in and in a very unlucky moment, she pulls out her own name.
Kina cannot believe she pulled out her own name. She says it figures that she would do that though. Jodi is really upset.
She feels if they would have gone with their plan, she would be going home and Kina would be safe. Kina says she does not regret the choice she made. She says it sucks that she has to go but she is okay with it.
Kina asks to be alone in the RV for a moment. She steps inside and goes to the back and begins to cry. Outside, Jodi is still upset. She feels like it should have been her. Derrick is upset because he and Kina have been quite close and he doesn't know what he is going to do without her. He decides to go into the RV to comfort her. She is happy to see him and the two hug.
Back outside, Ibis is crying. She says she feels the closest to Kina and she can't believe that Kina is the one that has to go. As Kina begins to pack, we see flashbacks of her past performances. Patrick says she will be missed. She is a good competitor.
Now I was a bit shocked that Kina got picked. The spoilers had Ibis going home. I can't help but be glad that Kina is going though. I never really cared for her. She seemed to act all sweet to your face and then stab you in the back when you turned around. Also on a more personal level, I will be glad not to have to type her name anymore. Every week her name pops up on my spell check and it gets annoying having to constantly skip over her name.
Anyway, Kina is now packed and ready to go. As the car arrives, the group assembles for a huge group hug. Everyone is crying and hugging and then Kina gets in the car and takes off. Everyone heads back inside. Jodi is still feeling guilty. She feels her communication was lacking in the last mission and she needs to work on it. She goes over to the guys and tells them she wants to do better. Patrick tells us the pressure is on Jodi to do better from now on.
The next morning, the group gets their call. They are leaving the country of Chile and heading to Argentina to meet their newest team mate. The group heads out and the complaints begin. Ibis complains about having a new team mate. She hopes the new girl is not hard to live with. She also wants someone nice and neat. Huh?
Okay, I don't get this. When Danny left she carried on for days about how the new guy was going to have to step up and how she didn't like the idea of a new team mate. She wanted to continue with only five and how unfair it was that the new guy got immunity. They wanted him to have to get naked and eat cow parts. This was all for the guy who replaced Danny. Kina her best friend gets the boot and all we get is she hope the new girl is nice, neat, and easy to live with. Did I miss something here?
The group arrives in Argentina and meets Angela our newest roadie. Angela is 22 and lives in LA. Both Derrick and Patrick quickly comment on how attractive she is. She is nice looking and she seems very nice. She begins telling them a bit about herself. Angela has a real job, a boyfriend who is the one, she was raised by her parents in a Jehovah Witness church, she was raped by someone in the church, and it pretty much ruined her whole family.
Whoa, can we say too much information. I really hope that some heavy editing was involved in this segment. I can't believe she knows these people for like five seconds and she tells them her whole life story. This girl is interesting to say the least. She is not use to hanging out with college kids but she has no problem giving out all that personal information to strangers.
