Surreal Life 3
Episode 6: We Need A Hit And Other Pipe Dreams

Special thanks to Kanika for filling in for me, while I was on vacation, or rather while I was lost in Atlanta, whoever thought it was a good idea to name multiple streets after a peach, should be FIRED. It would be ok, if they were not all ONE-WAY streets, or if they were not close to one another. Peachtree W should be on the west side of town, not 2 blocks from Peachtree N. Tourists are guaranteed to get lost.
The show starts with the houseguests waking up back at the house after their road trip. We are shown Brigitte venting about how much Flava has pissed her off, when he stated that he loved her only as much as he loved all of the houseguests, around the campfire after the surfing adventure, she thought the love they shared was different.
Hello it has been 3 days, give it at least a week, before you decide to fall in love. I suppose she wants more of a commitment from him. Flava states that he has put all of their differences aside, and is smitten once again with Brigitte, their differences being her wanting to hook up with every guy they are introduced to along the way on their outside the house adventures. Ain't love GRAND.
The newspaper arrives, and alerts the houseguest that they must write and produce a single, in 12 hours. Yeah being the musical genius that the houseguests are, this should be no problem at all; this will be a guaranteed hit! Straight up the charts, this single will go! We see Flava talking to his mom on the phone- he is really 'hard up' for a hit; I'm guessing this is part of his big comeback plan.
Jordan immediately begins working on the music, he is the self-declared producer. Ryan shows why she didn't win on American Idol, as she has no singing skill. Flava and Jordan appear to be hard at work on the music, and Ryan felt that all the focus was on Flava and Jordan, who was it supposed to be on - her no talent self? I think not.
All we see is Ryan sitting around sulking. Dave also has a minor role; I'm trying to figure out what kind of musical talents he possesses. Jordan admits he is nervous going into the studio, probably because this is the MOST he has interacted with the group since his arrival. Flava tries to hook up someone to do his hair, which at this point is beyond repair, as he sports a nappy fro - heavy emphasis on NAPPY.
At the studio, Jordan makes all the decisions without consulting any of the other houseguests. So far it seems like what they have put together is rap. Flava's stylist arrives just in the nick of time. Ryan continues to sulk; she only wants to make the type of music that she is used to singing.
Flava getting his hair styled is very amusing as his hair is very nappy and he lets the world know it. We also see that while getting his hair done, he continues to try to lay on the charm to Brigitte. While Jordan tries to help Charo get the rhythm of his seemingly rap song, which is amusing in itself, this is Jordan's most outspoken role since he has been in the house.
As Flava continues to get his naps combed out, Brigitte lays down the law with Flava, she requires no gold teeth, (good thing his are extractable), and Flava agrees if she will marry him, he states that he is glad she is back in his life. He jumps back into the business of making a hit single (after all this is his last chance at a comeback) he leads Charo into the musical style that he wants her to be at.
Meanwhile, Brigitte in what appears to be a self sacrificing move to get into Flava's good graces, employs his stylist to do up her hair. Maybe she too smoked some of Flava's crack for the morning meal. Of course she looks crazy, not quite as crazy as Flava; he looked better pre- hair hook up. Now he looks like a crazed man just released from the nuthouse, who stuck his hand in an electrical outlet, and the shock went to his head, all of his braids are pointing upward, not a very flattering look unless you are a Crack Head.
The group continues to 'try' to get the music going, Ryan is still sulking, claiming they are trying to do her like American Idol did her - correct me if I am wrong, but didn't American Idol make her a star, I mean she is no Ruben, but she has to give credit to American Idol for getting her onto the show, Surreal Life passed up Karaoke Stripper Nikki McKibbin another American Idol season one cast off for her.
Ryan feels that Jordan has too much input. Dave feels this way too, but he has no musical talents whatsoever, maybe so he ought to just go along with whatever he says. Brigitte informs the group that she cannot sing, no surprise there. Dave chimes in that Jordan is taking too many breaks. Lou Pearlman - founder of N-Sync and O-Town makes an appearance, apparently invited by Jordan. Ryan perks up for half a second, Lou advises her to make the best of it, she then goes back to sulking, and declares that she will sound like crap is she has to sing R & B. Look, I watched American Idol, she sounds like crap singing the ABCs, she had better make the best of it, anybody with true talent can sing anything and sound good. Finally Ryan breaks down and storms off.
Next week, tensions mounts as the houseguest begin to dislike Jordan's producing style.
Ryan continues to sulk.
