Sports Illustrated Swimsuit Search
Episode 5
Topless Posing and America Voting
Recap by Evan D. Baltz
February 3, 2005
It's down to three. The girls discuss how exciting it is and how cool it will be to go to Bora Bora. As Stacy is talking we can see her legs are full of bruises. I don't know what she has been doing, but it is kind of gross. The first competition is a repeat. The fake drill sergeants pay them a visit again and play the Simon Says game with a whistle. Apparently they ran out of new ideas for physical challenges. Stacy ends up winning and will be allowed to select the order of photo shoots in Bora Bora.
Once in Bora Bora, the girls are all excited. Stacy is obnoxious. She loves talking about herself and making stupid statements. She even realizes it at one point and says, "Oh that was a total airhead statement." Right you are dear.
The judges discuss the contestants with the photographer team. They say that Shannon is kind of the dark horse. Stacy has chosen her to go first in the photo shoot. Shannon must get up at 3:30am to begin hair and makeup. She knows there may be some topless modeling, which she is a little nervous about, but says she doesn't think there is anything wrong with a sexy Christian, so it should be okay. Shannon is allowed to choose the suits she likes, and whatever she chooses the other girls will also have to wear. So, going first has actually paid off for her and perhaps backfired on Stacy.
The first location for the shoot involves posing topless, but with strategically placed leis. Shannon looks very good in her suits. She has by far the best body of the remaining girls. The judges comment on how good she looks. The photographer thinks she is great as well. Meanwhile Stacy practices with a spokesperson coach. What a joke. Seriously, she is worse than those extras from Fargo. I have said this before but it seems to get more obnoxious each week. You can't believe that someone actually talks this way. It's almost as bad as someone from Boston or New York, or the South. I laugh too, every time I go back to Minnesota someone tells me how exaggerated the accents are in Fargo and how people from Minneeesewwta don't really talk like that, eh. Stacy proves my point.
After her photo shoot, Shannon decides not to tell the other girls much about it. She doesn't want to give them any heads up for their shoots.
Alicia is next. Her shoot goes well. The photographer and the judges like her look. She does look good, especially her face and eyes. She loves it so much she doesn't want it to end. Meanwhile Shannon practices her spokesmodel stuff. She does pretty well.
Up next, ya, is Stacy, eh. She is afraid of the topless part. I don't know why she is topless, i.e. has no top-totally flat. I don't really see what the judges see in her at all. She is afraid that her parents will disapprove of her posing topless. As her shoot begins the judges comment how she isn't doing very well. She is not relaxed and has kind of blank look on her face. The photographer is struggling to get her to do anything.
After the final day of shoots, the judges and the photographers discuss the girls. They really like Alicia and agree that she is through to the final round. But then they get stuck debating on Stacy and Shannon. Roshumba likes Shannon as do the photographers because she has a great swimsuit body. The other judges aren't convinced and kind of like Stacy. Again I have no idea why.
At the elimination ceremony on the beach, the judges talk to each girl and give them some feedback. Then they ask each girl what it would mean to them to win. Alicia breaks down in tears. She talks about her hard life and how no one supported her and this is what she has been waiting for all her life. I am still 100% convinced this is all legit. Shannon talks about how she wants to win so she can help her family and give back to them for all their support. Stacy cries as well and blabs on about wanting to be good at something. I think she may have to focus on working at the Mall of America again very soon.
The verdict is given. "Stacy…(dramatic pause) we're dropping you." She cries and walks off. Whew, about time in my mind. But hey Stacy, I hear they are shooting Fargo 2, so there is hope for your career.
It is down to the final two. Now the viewers will decide. You can place your vote online at the NBC
