Last week, quiet yet hard-working Chris got sent home. Obviously Mr. Hilfiger is looking for someone that will not only bring good ideas to the table, but will own up to those ideas regardless of their success or failure. Will Tommy Hilfiger (TH) get rid of another hard worker this week? Or will he finally start to eliminate some of the dead weight? And what about annoying Jeff that keeps every team he's on from working cohesively? Let's get to it and find out…
As the episode opens we see all of the competitors returning back to the SoHo loft, stunned after the elimination of Chris S. Many say he shouldn't have been sent home. Chris Cortez says that TH doesn't want anyone that's going to sit back and be quiet. Tommy says that he doesn't feel safe anymore, knowing that someone that worked as hard as Chris can get sent home.
The next morning the teams meet in Bryant Park, the epicenter of Fashion Week in NYC. TH explains their next team task. Each team will design three dresses with $1200 and 30 hours. Teams can spend money on a professional seamstress if they choose to. In addition to designing the dresses, each team must find their own model out on the street. TH comments that "a great dress should make a woman feel sexy".
All I have to say about this is… FINALLY! Thank God we get to see the people actually design clothes for once. Yes the other challenges were fun… but when the end result of this competition is hire one person to design for Hilfiger's company, I don't understand why we haven't gotten to see their designing skills yet. Now we will.
It's time to pick teams. Wes and Tommy were the first two selected last week, and so they will get to pick teams this week. Wes chooses Deanna first off. A smart and not surprising move, because now next week Deanna will get to pick first. She could then choose Wes, and they could just go back and forth to make sure they are on the same team together, and keep their alliance strong. I guess we'll have to see next week if that happens (considering that neither of them gets eliminated).
Tommy is next to choose and he goes for Princess. Wes selects Felix, and then Tommy chooses Shauna. In interview, Wes says he's upset about this, because Tommy told him that he would never choose Shauna, so Wes thought it was safe to pick other people before her, and then choose her later on to keep his alliance together (him, Deanna and Shauna). Tommy foiled that plan.
Wes picks James. Tommy selects Jessica. Wes goes with Elizabeth. Tommy elects Chris. (Yay, I don't have to clarify "Chris S" or "Chris C" anymore, now that Chris S got the boot last week!) Wes takes Julie and Tommy chooses Rob. That leaves, once again, Jeff standing all alone. Take that buddy! Maybe you need to re-evaluate yourself and realize just how valuable you are to these other people. They don't want you!
Tommy says in interview, that considering the dress-making task, he has assembled the best team. Wes says that he just picked all the weird and different personalities, and now he's going to put them in a blender and see what comes out.
TH then explains that each team will receive one part of the cutting room workshop. Wes's team gets the yellow side and will be the Yellow Team. Tommy's group will get the blue side and be the Blue Team.
So to help you out… here's a rundown:
Yellow Team: Wes, Deanna, Felix, James, Elizabeth, Julie & Jeff
Blue Team: Tommy, Princess, Shauna, Jessica, Chris & Rob
Now its time to hand out the invitations to this week's social skills challenge. For this week, TH is hosting a fashion industry party at his store in SoHo, and has two invitations for each team. On top of that, he wants the people to look good, so he's giving each contestant $500 to go shopping (with limo-ed transportation). When TH asked the blue team who would like to go, of course Chris raised his hand instantly. He's the guy that wore the all-Hilfiger outfit on day one. The second person to step up was Rob.
Over on the Yellow Team, three people all wanted to go: Julie, Wes and Deanna. TH put Wes in charge of picking who would go. Wes, of course, chooses himself and Deanna. Wes thinks that his social skills are his best assets and he'll feel bad if he gets eliminated before getting the chance to go on one of the social skills challenges.
As everyone leaves, James.....
