It's All In The "Namme"

Recap By Matt Eickhoff
July 13, 2005
Last week the teams played a game of Cowboys and Indians… and the Cowboys came out on top. By some miracle, Hilfiger actually praised Jeff for his dealings with the denim expert, when clearly he did not make it back in time for his team to have the denim jacket. Personally I think its ridiculous, and the letters I've received from you watching the show all think it was ridiculous too. Will Jeff finally get the boot tonight? Let's find out!

As the episode starts we see the contestants waking up the morning after the last Style Forum. Jeff says "I feel like a million bucks", after getting credit for his denim deal in front of his teammates last night. He says he is going to use that as motivation to keep going and win the whole thing.

Next, all the contestants join Tommy Hilfiger at his flagship store in SoHo.
He tells a story about opening his first store with his friends selling bellbottoms. From that first store, he started sketching out clothes that he thought his customers would like, and that is how he became a fashion designer. He says it all started by opening up that first store.

So for this challenge, Tommy is going to give each team their own store. The contestants seem pumped when Tommy announces this. He says that each team will be given $3000. This money is to be used not only to decorate the store, but also buy inventory. Their inventory will come from Goodwill stores all throughout NYC… and the profits from their sales will go back to Goodwill. Tommy will not be choosing the winner this time… the customers will, because the store that raises the most money will be the winner. They have all day today and tomorrow to open and run the store, but the store must be closed by 1:00am the next night. Tommy encourages them to be creative and come up with a theme to the store. He says that the store with a "clear vision" will win.

It is now time to pick teams. Last week's contestants that were picked first were Shauna and Felix. Because Shauna's team won, she gets to pick which key she wants (even though the stores are pretty much identical and right next to each other). She chooses the orange key, and will now be the leader of the Orange Team. Felix by default gets the purple key and will lead the Purple Team.

Shauna gets to choose her first teammate, and chooses Wes. This is not a surprise, not only because it seems they have an alliance, but also because Wes owns a reconstructive clothing store where all he does is take old clothes like clothes from Goodwill, and turn them into fashionable "vintage" clothing. He is perfect for this task. Felix, in a non-surprising move, chooses Elizabeth first because she is "responsible", and I think these two have an alliance together as well.

The rest of the teams are chosen in this order:
Orange: Shauna, Wes, Deanna, Chris, Jeff, Rob
Purple: Felix, Elizabeth, Jessica, James, Princess

Princess takes a big dive in the picks this week. She used to be one of the first few picked, but this time she was in the last two. People are probably realizing that Princess is ending up in the pit way too much. Another shocker is that Shauna chose Jeff when she could have picked Rob or Princess. She says it's because she wanted to pick a "sacrificial lamb". Isn't this the same thing we've heard for the last two weeks with Jeff??? And he's still around!!!

Tommy again has another challenge to test some of the contestants' social skills. He has two invitations to the Sundance Film Festival! (Which immediately I would jump at the chance to go to if I were any of those contestants!) The people that go will ride in a private jet with Hilfiger all the way to Utah to see the premiere of "Happy Endings", and rub elbows with the stars. He tells the teams that one person can take the invitation from each team, but it's not required. Surprisingly, Shauna and Felix, the two team-pickers, stepped forward to take the invitations.

This is especially surprising for Felix because he's always had a rule that the team-picker should never leave… and here he is breaking his own rule! He says he had to do it though because he couldn't pass up all that time on the jet with Tommy. Immediately his team is upset with him because they are already down one person, and now they lost Felix who would be the strongest asset to this challenge.

The teams arrive at the stores.....
