Tommy Lee Goes To College: Finale
Tommy Lee and Me
Recap by Brian Sikorski
September 14, 2005
Well folks, we are finally here. The very last episode of “Tommy Lee Goes to College”. I must say I am in full Tommy mode today. I’ve got my cell phone set with Tommy’s song, “Good Times” as the ring. I’ve listened to “Tommyland: The Ride” and above all else… I got to meet the one and only Mr.Tommy Lee today! Yes, you heard me right. Mr. Lee was visiting Orlando, Florida today to pimp his album. He was signing his skee-dee at the local “F.Y.E.”, which is oddly adjacent to the food court.
I arrived early and eagerly awaited his arrival. I should let it be know that I am not a fan of Tommy, I have been known to enjoy a Motley Crue song of two, but I am in no way considered a fan. As a matter of fact, I would not have even left my house to go see him, but I figured, “I’ll do it for you, my loyal readers”. I braved the dozens of people waiting to catch a glimpse of the rocker.
People were lined up as far as a yard or two away awaiting the great tattooed one. As he arrived to thunderous applause, I inched my way up to the table in which he was signing autographs. I introduced myself and he immediately recognized me and my smarmy commentary of his television show. He invited me to join him as he signed autographs.
I watched as he graciously accepted the praise and admiration of his fans. One gal even gave him a brown bag containing a bottle. When she gave it to him, she said it was an offering to the Greek god. I asked what was in the bag she said, “a bottle”. Thanks for the info.
After the autograph signing, Tommy and I went for some dinner and drinks. We laughed at the finer points of his show, especially the narration (sorry Ian, we are laughing with you, not at you). I asked him not to ruin the ending since it was airing tonight and I wanted to keep the suspense, what little of it there was. He promised not to give anything away, but stressed how serious he took it. I shook my head as if I believed him and sipped from my glass of Makers Mark.
Leaving Tommy at the bar, I headed home. He asked if he could join me to “understand the process [of writing my recaps]”, I told him I prefer to be alone when I write, so I can keep my focus on the work at hand. Tommy agreed and made a reference to his study sessions at the University of Nebraska. I said, “Sure Tommy, sure.”
At home, I got a bit misty eyed as I thought that this would be the last time, I would be writing about how bad this show is.
The show begins with Tommy stressing out about the upcoming finals. He feels the stress and the expectations from his professors, the chancellor, Natalie and his mom. With only one day left till finals, it is his last chance for some good learning. Our buddy Ian the narrator asks whether or not Tommy will “tap into his inner Einstein in time for finals”.
In Horticulture class, Tommy is rapidly taking notes – the exam is Wednesday.
In English class, Tommy has to write a 3-5 page paper on one of his reading assignments.
In Chemistry class, Tommy still is lost and has a final exam on Thursday.
Tommy says, he’s “only heard stories of cramming for finals. [He doesn’t] know what to expect”.
He visits with Dr. Gay for some advise. Tommy tells him about his nervousness and dread. Dr. Gay just tells him to relax and remain clam. He also recommends that he visit with the professors for assistance.
While visiting with Professor Kaye, his English teacher, she challenges him to ask questions about the book, “Why is it written? What is the purpose?” She attempts to stimulate him. It doesn’t seem to help.
While doing some laundry, Matt and Tommy.....
