Wow! There was never any doubt that Donald Trump makes his decisions on the fly but no one expected this grand slam. In one fell swoop, some of the front-runners in the competition were eliminated. I knew that some sort of twist was coming since there were 18 candidates this season and, as Trump reminded us in the first episode, this was a 13-week job interview. I thought it might come down to a four-person battle in the finals with two new apprentices being hired. No one saw this coming, especially the fired teammates who were driven away in stunned silence at the end of last night's episode.
This act reaffirms the integrity of the show, eliminating any suggestion that the results are predetermined. It will also remind the remaining contestants that they are all vulnerable and maybe force them to step it up. I can't wait to see the reaction in the suite when they realize that no one made it out alive. Things like this insure the viewers will be coming back week after week.
