No mention was made of immunity for the project manager of the winning team but we'll assume it is a given for the time being. So much time was spent in the premiere episode giving an overview of the history of Martha's Empire (and brush with the law) and the extent of her holdings plus a "morning montage" intended to confirm what an approachable, hands-on boss she really is, that we barely met any of the candidates.
Three or four members from each team were featured. It makes me wonder how fans that don't follow the shows on the Internet are meant to keep track? Certainly the opening credits that briefly flash the names and photos of each contestant are no help. Without their resumes viewers must have been thoroughly confused as to who was on what team and why. I had to rely on my own photo scoreboard and index cards to sort out the teams and keep track of the minor contributions made by the players who were relegated to the background. Because of the scant insights to be gained from this initial entry some of the players will move up simply for occupying a spot on the winning team. Others will move down for not speaking out against the benevolent dictator who led their team to an unhappy ending. Hey, I have to work with what they give me.
Two teams were formed:
Primarius- when the division was left to the candidates to decide this team became the frontrunner because it was made up of the eight entrepreneurs and corporate whiz kids who seem to have studied the game and they understand the notion of team effort. Their downfall may eventually come from having too many leaders who won't be content to sit on the sidelines for long.
Matchstick - the "creative" team. May be a case of "Too many cooks..." Already suffering from their lack of organizational skills and the quirkiness that often accompanies creative genius will result in many personality clashes. The key to success for them will be to reign in the loose cannons and stick to a plan without allowing emotions to rule the day.
