American Idol: The Top 12 Girls, Who Will Make The Overall Top Ten, Who Can Win It

Yesterday I took a look at the top 12 men of American Idol.

Now that you are got up let's put the women under the microscope.
Let’s talk about what their prospects are and let’s see how right, or wrong, I am when the confetti shower settles and the janitors are cursing the name of whomever it is that got them into that spot.
As many of the writers here in Reality TV Calendar have been telling you, the women in the competition have not been as memorable as the men.
I challenge anyone to actually describe the voices and performances of all 12 of these ladies.
This is going to be the first hurdle that at least 7 of these ladies will have to pass. They have to be able to grab the audience and so far not very many have.

Naima Adedapo
Hometown: Milwaukee, WI
Currently Resides: Milwaukee, WI
Age: 26
Naima is a personal favorite of mine. I like her voice and her passion. Her story has resonated with me, and with a lot of people in America. The problem with Naima is not voice or talent, but image.
I think Naima’s look could prove a little too much for some people in the audience. Now, don’t kill me because I think she looks beautiful in them, but in this competition, sticking out too much can be fatal.
I see how that can portray her as less accessible to the entire population. If I was close to her I would tell her to tone it down until she secures a spot in the top 5 and then let it fly.
Chances to the top 10: Well, She should make it on talent alone. Among the women, Naima is definitely one of the strongest contestants and I think she has the talent to make it to the top 10 and maybe even further.
Career chances: Please, have you listened to this woman sing?
This lady should give any established singer a run for their money; and given how Erika Badu has made a career with her voice, gorgeous looks and beautiful costumes, Naima will have not problems attracting an audience any time soon. God knows I already want to see her in concert.

Lauren Alaina
Hometown: Rossville, GA
Currently Resides: Rossville, GA
Age: 16
Remember that in the men's piece I told you I see American Idol as a 2 or 3 horse race?
Well, meet horse number 2.
Lauren has a voice that is begging to be taken to the big time, and no doubt it will.
The problem with Lauren is her youth. Lauren wants it bad enough and she certainly is talented, but she is not mature enough to handle some of the pressures she will be exposed to.
My fear with Lauren is not whether she will make it there, but what will happen once she gets there.
Chances to the top 10: Let’s just put is this way, the only way she is not making it to the top 10 is if she drops out of the competition.
Furthermore, the only way she does not make it to the top 5 is if she crashes under the pressure. The only way she does not make it to the finale is if she crumbles and starts to give horrible performances.
Chances of a career: Have you been paying attention? We are not talking IF, we are talking WHEN here. The only thing this lady needs to decide is whether she wants to top the Country or the Pop charts.

Kendra Chantelle
Hometown: Loudon, TN
Currently Resides: Nashville, TN
Age: 22
Kendra is one of those singers that has blended to the background. The only time I have actually paid attention to her was when she sang a duet with Paul; and it was Paul who commanded the attention. So Kendra has an uphill battle here.
Chances to the top 10: None, unless the next 7 weeks she gives one amazing performance after the other.
Chances of a career: As a solo artist? I am not sure. Never say never; after all, as I said before, Melisa Doolittle sang everyone off the stage in her season and look who won.
I think she would have a better chance as a member of a duo, since she has a pleasant voice and she blends well, Those are very important qualities. With her good looks, I would suggest she go on The Bachelorette.
