American Idol: Kris Allen And Adam Lambert - The Aftermath

New American Idol Kris Allen tells Ellen DeGeneres he has his wife to thank for his Idol win this week. the 23-year-old admits he almost gave up on music when his career didn’t take off in his native Conway, Arkansas.
“I’ve been singing for a long time. I started playing guitar when I was 13 and I’m 23 now. I did the music scene in Arkansas, which isn’t that big and it didn’t work out and I almost gave up,” he tells DeGeneres in an episode of The Ellen DeGeneres show set to air May 26.
“My wife has been the support. I seriously almost gave up a lot, and she was just like you have to keep going. She believes in me more than I believed in myself. She is just great.”
After Wednesday night's American Idol win Kris admitted to People magazine that he was “shocked” to be crowned the next Idol.
“I’m shocked. I feel great, but I’m just shocked,” he said.
Allen beat season 8 favorite Adam Lambert in perhaps the biggest upset in American Idol history.
“Adam deserves this just as much as I do. He’s an amazing performer, a gifted guy – an amazing guy,” Allen added.
Adam Lambert says he doesn’t care about coming in second place on American Idol, Adam insists he isn’t down about the loss.
“It felt so good. I got to sing with Queen and Kiss! First or second, it doesn’t matter to me; I got to sing with two great heroic rock bands,” Lambert told OK! magazine.
“For me, it’s not really about what happens tonight (the finale). It’s about tomorrow. It’s about what’s next.”
Allen won against season 8 favorite Adam Lambert, who only has good things to say about the new Idol.
“I was really mentally prepared to have whatever happen, happen. He was shocked. I had to shake him a little bit,” Lambert says adding he is a “huge fan” of Allen.
