American Idol 8: Adam May Have Been Close To The Bottom 3 Every Week
Recap by RTVC Senior Staff Writer Jenny Lane

American Idol was a shocker last week, as Matt proved that he does in fact have nine lives. Two weeks ago, the judges saved him from elimination, even though audience voters decided to send him home. Last week, Matt’s fans resurfaced and voted, which saved him from elimination. Since the judges saved him the week before, two contestants had to go home last week. With Matt safe, it was Lil and Anoop who were sent packing.
This week, the Idols performed songs made famous by the Rat Pack, meaning Frank Sinatra, Dean Martin, and Sammy Davis, Jr. A cool guy, but certainly not a member of the Rat Pack, Jamie Foxx was their mentor this week. Here’s how the performances went:
Kris Allen – “The Way You Look Tonight”
Randy – your best performance to date, mad nice vocals baby
Kara – you set the technical standard incredibly high, you’re a dark horse in this competition
Paula – you went from the boy next door to a sophisticated gentleman
Simon – it was a little bit wet (?!?), you’re like taking a well trained spaniel for a walk, safe and nice but not incredible
Allison Iraheta – “Someone to Watch Over Me”
Randy – that was the bomb, I loved it
Kara – I ain’t nervous for you anymore, you are not a one trick pony
Paula – alluring and tender, I’m proud of you
Simon – I don’t feel that belief in you (that you can win), I have a horrible feeling you could be in trouble tonight
Matt Giraud – “My Funny Valentine”
Randy – a little pitchy, some of the runs didn’t land right, I give it a six out of ten
Kara – I appreciate all the runs, but I didn’t feel you were emotionally connected
Paula – pure, simple, impressive, excellent job
Simon – the only believable, authentic song I’ve heard tonight, brilliant
Danny Gokey – “Come Rain or Come Shine”
Randy – you’re the only one that can actually have an album of songs like that and win, you can sing!
Kara – you had swag tonight, the most creative you’ve ever been, unbelievable
Paula – stellar performance, way to go
Simon – you proved a point, your vocals were the best I’ve heard from you in weeks, outstanding
Adam Lambert – “Feeling Good”
Randy – a little too Broadway for me, but another good performance
Kara – my mouth drops open every time you perform, you’re shocking in a good way
Paula – you make me feel better than good, it’s like watching the Olympics and you’re our Michael Phelps
Simon – Randy complaining that you’re theatrical is like complaining that a cow moos
Even though I don’t think he’s in danger at all, I have to wonder if Kris’ votes were increased by the amazingly positive comments made by the amazingly popular Jamie Foxx.
For Allison, I’m really.....
