American Idol Recap: Will We Get A Good Finale Out Of This? Recap and Commentary by Idolhead Ed

That’s not a bad thing it’s just not a winning Idol thing. I have also never been on the Hollie bus either but the last two weeks she’s been trying to sell me a ticket.
Wednesday night she was the best of the night because she drilled both of her songs. Neither was as good as Jessica’s 2nd song but both were superior to every other song on the night.
So Hollie is fully expecting to go home by the look on her face. But no, it’s Skylar.
Hollie proceeded to give her a giant Mud Dog hug. I think partly because she was sad for Skylar but mostly because she was happy it wasn’t her. I thought she was never letting go.
Hollie is clearly more disturbed about the result than Skylar. I think it will hit Skylar a little later on.
She sings out a little different than anyone else this year with a song she never sang on the show “Gunpowder and Lead” a song Haley schooled Lauren on in a duet last year.
This is clearly where she wants to be and because she is a Country girl there will likely be some success post Idol.
Who really should be thankful is Phillip and even Joshua to an extent. After a re-watch both were subpar.
Phillip because that’s just the way he sings and Josh because he had a fast ball down the middle of the plate with his second song and just got a single out of it.
One thing I am positive about is if the judges give Josh any more undeserved standing O’s it will send him home. Even Joshua fans are worried about that.
I have to admit though I like to hear the judges ramble. It’s much like a car wreck. You just can’t help but look over.
Like Simon or not he was the real voice of reason on the show. We could use another Simon possibly in the form of Jimmie.
I guess I could say I am pleased with the top 4.
If it were Elise instead of either of the guys it would be almost perfect. I am not feeling either of the guys at this stage.
But it is true I am always more on the girl’s side so you can take that however.
Since we now have what we now have I can only hope we get a final with Hollie and Jessica.
And the apparent realness of adoration Hollie showed for Skylar might just translate into some of those Skylar votes.
Will we ever get a really great final? We have a chance right now and it may be one with Jessica and any other contestant.
But the final must include this 16 year old singing marvel.
Is it Wednesday yet?
