American Idol Recap: The Final Two Perform But Who Wins?

Who will it be?

It was a great American Idol finale! But who struck gold?

When it gets down to the last 2 someone always seems to cough up a bone. Last night that didn’t happen.

So I can officially give this the best performed final of all time. But who will win?

Jessica has to go first not that it really matters on this night.

Jessica: “I have Nothing” Simon Fuller’s choice
There could have been no more predictable song choice than this.

In fact this makes the 8th time it has been sung on Idol.

But the important thing is how did she do? For me it’s never been done better on the show.

We remember Trenyce’s as likely the best. Vonzell Solomon had a great rendition as well.

But the subtleness and softness combined with the controlled power was amazing.

And how does someone so young look so poised and collected on that stage?

Like I mentioned in my article on her she has been doing these type things since she was 3.
Grade A

Phillip: “Stand By Me” Simon Fuller choice
This was a perfect choice for Phillip.

He sounded very relaxed and comfortable. He sounded very in his zone. It was very good.

He did get a little pitchy in a few places but nothing significant at all.

I actually liked this better than 90% of what he has done this year.

When he tried to go really high to add some depth it didn’t quite go as well as it could have.

But over all very good start by both.
Grade A-

I agree with Randy. Round one goes to Jessica.
