The top five head home from panel in Amsterdam and reflect upon remaining in the competition. Analeigh feels that the other girls vying for Top Model do not consider her to be competition while Elina feels that she’s misunderstood by panel and doesn’t see how they could consider her “stiff.” Marjorie reveals in an interview that she thinks Elina continues to give the same face in all her photographs and that she’s not even really trying any more but Elina is still convinced she is doing everything right.
Back at home, the girls prepare a meal and Samantha skips about excitedly at being part of top five. Her excitement is not shared by Marjorie who is feeling more pressure than ever. Samantha reminds her to enjoy the fact that she’s still here and Marjorie tells her, “but not for long.”
The girls then receive their latest installment of Tyra mail: “You have to more than good looking if you want the first booking. Love, Tyra.” They immediately know their challenge and in sing-songy voices proclaim, “goooo seeees!”
The next morning, the models arrive at Touche Models and are greeted by the agency’s managing director Frederick Koster and his colleague Pearl Macnack. He informs the girls that they’ll be visiting five of Amsterdam’s top designers and will be judged on their portfolio, runway walk, general appearance and personality. The models are each given a boat and a driver to help them navigate Amsterdam’s waterways in order to find their five designers. The model who impresses the designers the most will win the challenge.
The girls dash off and their driver’s take them by the hand to help them into the boat. They each then read the maps provided and direct their driver to the location of each designer. At her first go see, Samantha meets with designer Marlies Dekkers and is proud that she remembers from her research to kiss Marlies three times on the cheek upon meeting her. Samantha models swim wear for Marlies but Marlies tells the camera that while Samantha is nice, she’s too commercial for her tastes and she would not book her.
On her first go see, McKey meets with Monique Collignon who is instantly impressed with how gorgeous McKey is. McKey models a pale pink gown for Monique and cautiously walks as the ruffled train follows her. Monique is pleased with McKey and thinks she would be a stunning addition to her runway show.
Back on the streets of Amsterdam, Marjorie, Analeigh, and Samantha are simultaneously lost and are completely confused by their surroundings. “I got lost so many friggin’ times.” Samantha says. “The street names in Amsterdam are unpronounceable. I don’t know how even the Dutch people pronounce it. It’s like ‘poggin loggin smoggin schpogginberg.’”
Analeigh finally finds her way to designer Hans Ubbink who smiles as she models a short black dress. “She was really there and presenting herself from the very start,” he says. Across town, Elina isn’t impressing Mart Visser. While changing into a long black and white gown, he remarks that she is hot to the touch. She tells him she had run there and he replies, “never run.” In his interview, he reveals that he was upset his expensive gown would be full of her sweat and that he would not book her because “she is playing a model and she isn’t a model.”
