ANTM: Ranking The Chances Of The Top Three
Rankings by Jacob D.
As of November 13, 2008
This week's episode of America's Next Top Model saw the girls jockeying for position as they headed towards the final three.

After her bottom two scare, Marjorie decided to try on a new fun-loving personality, which included drinking with some boys at the model apartment.

The lesson of the week saw Paulina Porizkova teaching the girls how to sell products non-verbally. Their challenge saw them silently acting out a scene where they meet, flirt with, and kiss a male model and Marjorie won.

For the photo shoot, the girls dressed in couture and posed in front of windmills.

At judging panel, Analeigh's photo knocked the judges dead and she was called first by Tyra while Marjorie and Samantha were left as the bottom two.

Though Samantha's film was weak and she was still missing the mark as far as how she presents herself as a model, Marjorie was eliminated when her film was also weak and the judges felt her stab at a new personality meant an absence of that Marjorie essence that they had come to love.

We are down to our final three and that means the season finale is right around the corner. All three girls will take part in a CoverGirl commercial and photo shoot. Two of those three will be selected to take part in the final test, a real live runway show. Then, only one will be left standing as the eleventh winner of 'America's Next Top Model.' Who will it be? Find out next time and I'll see ya there!

Here are my rankings for the week...

Analeigh
Current Ranking: 1         Previous Ranking: 2

My opinion? I think that windmill picture may have won the competition for Analeigh. That was the most high-fashion she's ever looked and the judges just about wet their pants when they saw it. It was like a revelation for/from Analeigh and it came at just the right time. She's also been one of the most well-rounded girls throughout the competition, acing the commercial challenge from a few weeks ago and turning in a number of strong pictures. She's relatable, she's beautiful, she's Analeigh.

And am I the only one getting a sense of deja vu with Analeigh right now? That jumping photo took me right back to Saleisha from Cycle Nine, who also pulled out a jumping photo in the round of four that floored the judges. Saleisha was also not the most inspiring girl from a high-fashion standpoint, as Jenah was that season, but her well-rounded nature, her relatable personality, and her solid body of work helped bring her the win. Also, analyzing the group photo, when I picture that last image of all the other girls fading out while one is zoomed to the center with the victory title, Analeigh's is the one I really picture.

So, can Analeigh win it all or will someone else snatch the crown away?
McKey
Current Ranking: 2         Previous Ranking: 1

I feel like what we have here is that classic ANTM battle of archetypes: the stunning high-fashion girl who isn't so good at commercial work versus the all-around competitor who may not be as sharp when it comes to high-fashion work, but does very well in all areas. It hasn't always wound up that way in the final two, but it's the classic battle throughout any season of ANTM. McKey is, of course, the stunning high-fashion girl. Her look is sensational, unique, and interesting. Her personal styling is strong, her personality is sweet, she has strong presence, and she seduces all of the fashion luminaries that come in contact with her, including ANTM's own panel of judges. Her journey throughout the competition has been the duck-out-of-water who has blossomed as a model and I feel she's the most interesting of the girls left, by far. Plus, she has made it to the final three without ever appearing in the bottom two at any judging panel.

However, when it comes to commercial work, McKey just has not proven herself capable yet. She completely flopped in the girls' first CoverGirl commercial, back in the episode where Joslyn was eliminated, and while she had Paulina and the designer just on her looks at this week's challenge, when it came to acting, she flopped. This shows that while McKey can take a great photo and look good on the runway, she may not be the best at selling product and thus isn't the most well-rounded gal in the pack.

When we start crunching some ANTM numbers, we can find some different trends involved in the calling of the final two. If McKey makes it to the final two without appearing in next week's bottom two, she'll have made it through the whole season with zero appearances in the bottom two, the fewest of any of the girls. There've been five instances in the past 10 seasons where the girl with the lowest number of appearances in the bottom two throughout the competition has lost, including Joanie from Cycle Six and Anya from Cycle Ten who also made it to the final two with zero bottom two appearances. If McKey is in the bottom two, but Analeigh isn't, they'll be tied, which has happened four times in the past, at one appearance each and it could go either way. In the order that the final two is called, the first girl picked has lost seven times. Of course, this is all assuming that it's McKey and Analeigh in the final two and you never know what'll happen so you can't count out Samantha.

I don't know. Maybe it's one of those things where you have a clear favorite and you want them to win, but you prepare yourself for the worst just in the case they don't. I mean, if I look at things objectively, my head is giving the edge to Analeigh, but subjectively, my heart is really pulling for McKey. Can the high-fashion girl pull through and take the win?
Samantha
Current Ranking: 3         Previous Ranking: 3
At this point, I just don't envision Samantha winning. She's been solid and dependable throughout the competition, turning in lovely photos and winning a challenge here and there. However, she has not been one of the stars of this season, meaning one of the breakout girls that everyone talks about or that the judges favor. As far as this past episode, she was hammy at the challenge, dull at the photo shoot, and though she pulled out a fantastic picture, the judges still had some major issues with the way she styles/presents herself as a model. Tyra even told her, "You just don't get it yet and that's not acceptable this far into the competition."

While it is possible for Samantha to make it to the final two if she does a good job with the CoverGirl assignments, which I see her doing thanks to her sunny personality, I think whichever of Analeigh or McKey gets there with her is going to take the win, so Samantha is either destined for third or second in my mind. I said in an earlier edition of the scoreboard that Samantha was a dark horse. Can she pull out the win and upset the favorites?
