America's Next Top Model 13: Catching A Break And Getting All Mixed Up
Commentary and Recap by RTVC Staff Writer Jacob D.
October 29, 2009

Seven weeks at the top.
Previously on America's Next Top Model, the girls received lessons on how to give interviews and were then administered a challenge testing how well they think on their feet, which Erin won. The girls were surprised to find that not only would they be filming their first CoverGirl commercials, they would also be writing their own scripts for said commercials. Most girls struggled, but Erin had the hardest time and broke down repeatedly. At judging panel, Jennifer's commercial was deemed the best while Erin and Rae were left as the bottom two. Though Erin couldn't get it together throughout her task, Rae was eliminated because the judges didn't think she was memorable. Six girls remain; who will be eliminated this week?

Post-elimination, Erin discusses her placement in the bottom two and actually seems to be self-aware! She's very disappointed in herself and knows that being 18, young and immature, she still has a ways to go in learning how to keep composed. Brittany, deciding to take over for Erin, starts tooting her own horn. She says that being 21, she's more confident, secure in herself, and well-rounded than the other girls. Just a small point, Jennifer is 23, older than our much-more-mature-than-them Miss Brittany, and the youngest girls there are 18. It's not like Brittany is off in a world of her own, as if she's 35 or something.

The girls head back to the house, only to find it closed off and in a deplorable state. Filth, dirty dishes, and general disarray, no South Park reference meant, all over the place. There's also Tyra. Make your own jokes. She leads the girls around to show them the mess, greatly exaggerated for effect of course, and scolds them. Tyra announces that the house is condemned and so the girls must live somewhere else. That somewhere else? Hawaii! Can I borrow one of those fire dancers for a weekend? I promise to return them in one piece. The girls, all atwitter, but not tweeting, rush to get packed and leave.

Soon enough, the girls touch down in Maui and are shown some of the sights. Hawaii is such a gorgeous place! They pull up to their new model house, which is frickin' huge! Palatial, big garden and swimming area which looks like a nature scene, and random TV screens placed about playing Jennifer's CoverGirl commercial. Remember, the judges deemed her commercial the best in the last judging panel so as part of the tradition that began in Cycle 11, it's displayed as digital art in the house. Except, this art is actually moving.

Tyra Mail: "If you want to catch a break, you're going to have to go out there and get it. -Love, Tyra"

Let's guess what this Tyra Mail means! Hmmm, break? Get it? Hmmm. Are they going to break stuff and get some? That would be a cool punk rock photo shoot! Or heck, just a really fun challenge. Later, as the girls relax, Erin shares a silly song she just made up as she does Laura's hair. Here it is:

My name's Nicole and I like art
My name's Jen and I like farts
My name's Laura and I've got hair like a poodle
My name's Sundai and I like noodles
My name's Brittany and I like math
My name's Erin and I kick ass

That was actually really funny.....
