America's Next Top Model 13: The One To Beat, Won!
Commentary and Recap by RTVC Staff Writer Jacob D.
November 19, 2009

Never a doubt.
Previously on America's Next Top Model, 14 girls, all of them shorter than regular fashion models, came together to compete for the title of Top Model in ANTM's first petite cycle. Or, 15 girls, in a way. Despite the fact that she was nowhere to be found in the pre-season promotional material, an energetic Christian girl named Amber was called as one of the 14 finalists in the semi-finals episode. In the first competition episode of the season, it was revealed that she pulled out not long after that cast reveal and was replaced. So who were the 14 girls that competed? Who has been eliminated? Who are we left with? Why?

Well, first there was Lisa, Amber's afforementioned replacement. She was eliminated for being completely underwhelming as a model. Rachel was surprisingly eliminated after a group go-see at Wilhelmina Modeling Agency, the agency representing this season's winner, and Courtney was eliminated that same episode when she admitted to giving up on herself at the photo shoot. Lulu was eliminated when the judges questioned her impact as a model and Bianca followed after weeks of struggling with how to soften up her look and persona.

Then, Ashley was shown the door when her potential plateaued and Kara left when she wasn't bringing enough inner-fire and passion to the table. Rae, who just missed out on going overseas, was eliminated for not showing enough personality. The remaining six girls then went to Hawaii and Brittany finished in sixth place for being too technical and not personable enough, followed by Sundai, who showed a lack of versatility. Finally, a double elimination left us with a final two instead of a final three and Erin, for standing in the way of her own progress, and Jennifer, for her inconsistent performance throughout the competition, were sent home just shy of the finish line.

So now, we're left with Laura and Nicole. Laura came in as the sweet country girl with some high-fashion dreams. She's been bubbly and charming all throughout the competition and has taken some great pictures. However, she's always come just short of finishing on top, never once being called first at the end of any judging panels. Can she finally finish first? She'll have to defeat season favorite Nicole, the awkward yet stunningly model-esque girl who has never been in the bottom two or three at judging panel and has had the judges raving week after week. Can Nicole maintain her lead and prevent an upset? Let's see how they fare in their final challenges and whom the judges decide is America's Next Top Model.

By the way, you know how I just mentioned that Laura was never called first at any judging panel? She's set a record for herself right there: the first girl to make it to the final two at all without being called first at any judging panels. I'll leave that for you to decide if it's a good thing or not something to write home about.

The girls are reaching their.....
