America's Next Top Model 13: Here's The Final Two
Rankings and Commentary by RTVC Staff Writer Jacob D.

This week's penultimate episode of America's Next Top Model saw half the girls rising to the top and half the girls falling just short, no pun intended.
The girls received lessons in Hip Hop Hula dancing and, for the challenge, told their own stories through group performances and solos. Laura won.
For the photo shoot, the girls embodied Hawaii's volcano goddess, posing atop volcanic rocks with waves crashing around them.
At judging panel, Nicole was called first and named a part of this season final two.
Then, Erin, Jennifer, and Laura were called on as a sort of bottom three.
Erin's weeks of self-sabotage and Jennifer's inconsistency ended their journeys in the first Judging Panel Double Elimination since Cycle Four and Laura was called on as the final member of the final two.
By the way, you know how at the end, they show the eliminated girls' photos from the season? It wasn't until then that I noticed both Erin AND Jennifer gave pretty much the exact same facial expressions in all of their photos. That's not necessarily a good thing. And come on! Couldn't we do better with this final photo shoot? Boring! Big disappointment!
Also, I mentioned last week that Jennifer had a chance to break Cycle Two April's record of being the highest ranked Asian model the show has ever seen if she placed higher than fourth. I've ranked Erin and Jennifer based on the order in which they gave their exit interviews at the end of the show, but since they were eliminated at the same time in panel and not given any official rankings, it's debatable as to whether or not Jennifer set a new record.
Anyways, our final two is set and they will soon face their final assignments: a CoverGirl shoot and a runway show. Then, either Laura or Nicole will be our latest winner and another season will come to a close. Who will win? Who will come so close, yet so far? Find out soon! See ya there!

Nicole
Current Ranking: 1         Previous Ranking: 1
Nicole is an 18 year old student from Louisville, CO. She is 5' 7".
Well, Nicole sets a record: nine straight weeks on top of my scoreboard. No other girl has dominated my scoreboard as much and I just think that's the story of Nicole's journey throughout this season. No one has done better than Nicole at the photo shoots and no one is as naturally model-esque as her. Sure her personality is dry and her presence/style is awkward, but she's a bright, charming, relatable girl who kills it at the photo shoots. Plus, for all the knocks she's received for personality, who won the go-see challenge this season? Nicole, which means designers and clients will want to work with her. So let's see, she's delivered an amazing season long portfolio, won two challenges including the important go-see challenge, people want to book/work with her, she's been called first three times at judging panel and never appeared in the bottom two/three, she's naturally model-esque, she's relatable if you can look past her surface awkwardness, and she's been on top of my scoreboard for nine weeks. I definitely think Nicole should be the winner this season, but whether or not she will be, only time will tell. Or at least, another week.
By the way, if Nicole wins there will be a huge irony afoot, besides that she would be the tallest of the short girls winning the whole thing. I'm also not talking about her being the first winner, should she win, to share a name with a previous winner since that would be 'coincidence' and not 'irony.' Of what irony do I speak? For you ANTM fanatics, think back on your ANTM history. For anyone who likes a challenge, look through the info of past seasons. Or if you just want me to tell you, come back after the finale and I'll reveal it for you in the write-up on the final scoreboard, even if Nicole doesn't end up winning.

Laura
Current Ranking: 2         Previous Ranking: 3
Laura is a 19 year old waitress from Stanford, KY. She is 5' 6".
Last week, I was certain of two things: Nicole would advance and Erin would get eliminated. I was right on those counts. However, of the other two girls, it was a toss-up and I lost on that one, ranking Jennifer second and therefore, the possible other member of the final two. I've liked Laura all season. Heck, I even liked her pre-season where I had her ranked third before the season began. I would be ok with her winning, though I don't know if she will or even if she should. I've been saying for a while that it's the most well-rounded girls that usually win these cycles, the ones who are strong on all fronts and not strong on one and obviously lacking in another like past runners-up. So far, Laura has impressed the judges with her photos and her personality and made them take notice with her style. Her only weak point is in her personal presence, a.k.a. looking more model-esque in person, but the judges haven't harped on her for that as much as you think.
I feel like Laura has a definite shot and all season I've been saying she'd be the one to topple Nicole if anyone ever stepped up and made that happen, but there has never really been one point where she actually took control of the competition like Nicole and other girls have. She's never been called first at any judging panels, which if she wins, will be a first for any ANTM winner as every other ANTM winner has been called first at least once. She's only won one challenge by herself and another as part of a group and was in the bottom two, or three as it were, once. Meanwhile, Nicole has been called first three times, won two challenges on her own, and never been in the bottom two/three. Laura's just been out-performed every step of the way and if we're going by each girls' whole track record, Nicole is the clear winner.
Still, as I said before Laura does have a shot because she's the most well-rounded of the two left. Plus, being called first the most often isn't an automatic win just like appearing in the bottom group more often hasn't always been a death knell. I mean, look no further than Joanie and Anya losing Cycles Six and Ten despite five first call-outs and zero appearances in the bottom group. I would not at all be surprised if Laura ended up being this season's winner, but I just feel like Nicole has done a much better job all season so I am leaving Laura in second place, whether I end up being right or wrong.
