Was there ever a doubt?
Previously on America's Next Top Model, thirteen new girls arrived, all of them hoping to be the next Top Model.
Of course, there can only be one overall winner and nine girls had to get eliminated along the way.
In the first episode of the season, the girls' first photo shoot involved posing nude. Jessica's photo was deemed the best by the judges and Gabrielle was eliminated when the judges were underwhelmed by her output.
The second episode saw the girls posing in the rain, taking beauty shots with purple perfume. Yeah, purple perfume. Whatever. Raina got the first call out and Naduah was eliminated when the judges felt she was a little confused about how to sell her edgy look.
Then the girls had to act out various genres of dance and Alasia's photo was a big hit. Ren expressed a desire to leave the show because she couldn't handle the drama, but she was to be eliminated anyway because the judges felt she was losing her spark. After a photo shoot involving posing as vampires, Alasia was once again a hit and Simone was eliminated when the judges felt she wasn't able to really push through at her photo shoots.
Then, the girls posed in tacky fashions and Jessica scored again while Tatianna was eliminated when Tyra noted that most of the good shots she got were more luck-based than skill-based.
The next episode saw the girls posing for Cover Girl on the New York subways. Angelea's photo got her called first and Brenda was eliminated when the judges felt she wasn't able to utilize her full potential. Then the girls posed in outfits made of hair and Krista earned the judges' notice. Anslee was eliminated and just missed out on going overseas.
The final six girls went to New Zealand and their first photo shoot was intended to test the girls' abilities to stand out. They all wore the same outfit and posed in a similar setting and Krista landed on top once again. In the end, Alasia was eliminated when the judges felt she was losing her focus and becoming lost. After that, the girls posed among shadows and light and Krista was called first at the end of judging panel for an impressive third week in a row. On the other hand, Jessica was eliminated when the judges felt she was too commercial and too safe.
Now we are left with four girls and a two hour season finale. In the first hour, the four girls will face another challenge and photo shoot, but two of them will be eliminated at judging panel. In my opinion, this arbitrary double elimination before the final two is just stupid and unfair. It robs a girl of one more chance to prove herself and get into the final two. Take last season for example; who wouldn't wanted to have seen what Jennifer could do in the final Cover Girl assignments? I know I would've. Heck, I wouldn't have minded seeing Erin in that final challenge and I didn't like her. I hope this isn't something the show will be doing from here on out in all future seasons.
In the second hour, the final.....
