America's Next Top Model: Are the American Girls Even Trying? Here's The Rankings Rankings and Commentary by RTVC Staff Writer Jesse Caylor
April 26, 2012
Sophie Sumner, 21, is from Oxford, England.
Current Ranking: 1         Previous Ranking: 2
For the first times this season, someone other than Laura leads the rankings! I would not have guessed Sophie would be the one to dethrone my American girl, but she has been delivering knockout photos the past few weeks. Even this week’s confused photo was fantastically interesting and fashion. Furthermore, Sophie has continued to prove herself to be bookable which could be what wins it for her in the end. At this point, it seems like it’s hers to lose.
Laura LaFrate, 20, is from Scotia, New York.
Current Ranking: 2         Previous Ranking: 1
Well it had to happen eventually. Laura has not gotten the recognition I thought she was going to and this week she was even blasted for being…wait for it…unoriginal. Say what?? Laura may be getting outmodeled at this point, but she is definitely unique. Hopefully she is able to pull it together. Otherwise, we may be out of Americans sooner than we know it!
Alisha White, 20, is from South London, England.
Current Ranking: 3         Previous Ranking: 4
Little Miss Alisha stepped her game up this week! Although I am not sure she is the reason her designer won the first challenge, she delivered a picture that was miles better than anyone else’s. She still seems a bit inconsistent to me, but if she is able to keep up this level of work, she could make it all the way.
Catherine Thomas, 22, is from Folkestone, England.
Current Ranking: 4         Previous Ranking: 3
The rise of Alisha means the fall of Catherine. This week the judges went so far as to say she was “trying to be a model.” I think there is something to this idea, as she does not seem fully aware of her poses. However, when she is on she delivers knockout photographs. She needs to start impressing the judges if she wants to stick around much longer.
Annaliese Dayes, 24, is from London, England.
Current Ranking: 5         Previous Ranking: 6
Annaliese may be my favorite of the bunch, personality-wise. She is fantastic and fun. It is ironic she was criticized for looking dead in the face this week when her first shots looked like they were going to be full of life. She may only be pulling Kelly to her side little by little, but she has got me in her corner. Hopefully she is able to continue!
Eboni Davis, 18, is from Seattle, Washington.
Current Ranking: 6         Previous Ranking: 5
Can we just skip ahead a week and send Eboni home? Better yet, why couldn’t it have been a double elimination and we just got it over and done with! Eboni is the weakest of the girls left in every sense of the word. She stands little to no chance of winning, in my opinion, and will hopefully be the next girl sent home. It may make the competition between the Brits and the Yanks even more unbalanced, but it would be justified.
