America's Next Top Model 9: The Girl Who Gets A Mango
Week 6 Update by Jacob D.
October 26, 2007
Previously on America's Next Top Model: Benny Ninja showed up to give the girls posing lessons and emphasized movement by teaching on a trampoline. The girls had a challenge where they had to pose with a partner on an ice skating rink and Lisa won. This decision caused many of the girls to disagree, leading to Lisa feeling ostracized. The photo shoot saw the girls posing as high fashion gargoyles and though Ambreal was able to do the shoot despite her fear of heights, she wasn't able to break through. Ambreal ended up in the bottom two, but Janet was eliminated when she required too much coaching to be a model. Nine girls remain. Who will be eliminated tonight?

Episode Six: "Sending A Message"

Home Life Part 2:
Ebony talks about how tough it is to go to judging panel and be critiqued so much. She's very down on herself right now. Heather worries about her profile shots and wonders, "If my best shots are ones where I'm in profile, what can I do about that?" Not an unreasonable inquiry. Bianca tells us that she's becoming close to some of these girls, but that doesn't mean she's forgotten about the competition. I think that's the right attitude to take. I hate those people that say, "I'm here to win, not make friends!" and act like miserable witches. Why not make friends? As long as you remember that this is a competition and only one can win, there's nothing wrong with being friendly.

Lessons & Challenge- Speak Easy:
Tyson Beckford pops up for a visit at the Top Model House, much to the cheers of the other girls. He has been sent by Tyra to teach the girls how to be spokes models. He conducts an exercise where each girl grabs an item from the kitchen and tries to sell it to him. Most girls seem to do well, including Heather, but once again, Ebony defeats herself and can't muster much of anything.

Later, the girls head to a studio where Tyson introduces the girls to the vice president of the "Keep A Child Alive" charity, Elizabeth Santiso. She administers a challenge where the girls will break off into teams of three and create a PSA for Keep a Child Alive, an organization that helps with AIDS treatment in Africa. Team One is Lisa, Chantal, and Bianca and they do a commercial based around the "See no evil, hear no evil, speak no evil" conceit. Chantal and Bianca stumble over their lines. Team Two, Heather, Jenah, and Ambreal, are stuck for an idea so they keep it simple and use large cards to help illustrate their message. Team Three, Sarah, Ebony, and Saleisha, use a sort of girl power theme in their spot.

After each group has performed, Elizabeth declares team two the winners. Out comes the president of Carol's Daughter, a company that specializes in natural body care items. I completely forgot to write down the woman's name, but I know her last name was Price, so I'll call her Ms. Price. Ms. Price says that for their prizes, two girls will get a $500 gift basket from Carol's Daughter. The third and individual winner, chosen by lottery, will get to shoot an ad for Carol's Daughter that is art directed by Mary J. Blige. Pulling names out of a hat, Ms. Price declares Heather the winner! I'm glad to see her win, even if by chance.

Home Life Part 3:
At the house, the girls decide to take a break, cook up some food, and have a little "slumber party" in the big closet room of the house. Much to the girls' shock, Ebony expresses a desire to go home. Bianca, who knows she has work to do, practices facial expressions in the mirror.
