Age Of Love: Will He Choose the Drama or a Hot Mama?
Episode 2 Recap by Donna Emery
June 27, 2007

But Mark was determined to make the best of it. He told the gals he wanted to get to know them, and asked if anyone would like to talk to him. Lauren volunteered. The two paddled to the back of the hot tub. She told him that she worked for a caterer, and was a student. This and several subsequent encounters with the ladies led Mark to discover that most of the 20-year olds "did two things". He meant that they seemed to all have more than one job. He figured that was OK, "because they are young and still finding themselves."

Mark couldn't help but conclude that most of these girls were beautiful, yet he thought that there was something missing from the equation.

Adelaide found a few minutes alone with Mark, and he said that she was the first of the younger women for whom he felt an attraction. He wondered why she didn't have an Australian accent, and they flirted quite a bit as they talked. He definitely seemed to relax when she was around.

When Host Mark came to tell the group that Mark had to leave, the ladies seemed sad. Mary pouted the most, because she thought she'd gotten the "least amount of alone time" with Mark. After Mark left, Host Mark told the girls that some of them would go on a date with him, but that some wouldn't see him until the elimination. Pessimistic Mary was sure she'd be one to miss out on the date.

Mark had a lot to think about, after meeting the younger gals. He said some had seemed attractive, yet they hadn't "blown him away." He said he missed the older women, because with them he didn't have to "try so hard."

So, he brought all six older women to a roller rink. When the ladies came in, they saw Mark in a 70s-style Afro and a silk shirt. I thought Denny Terrio had gotten loose from obscurity, but it was our Mark. The girls were charmed, and also charmed by the silk Roller Girl outfits that he'd provided for them to wear on the date. All of the girls rolled out on the floor with glee. They all seemed glad to be there. Mark told them that he didn't know how to roller skate and some were glad to help hold him up as they skated. Some seemed pretty skilled, and showed off a bit. Mark admired Kelli's long legs, which "seemed to never end." Maria laughed and said she hadn't skated since High school.

Back at the suite with the younger gals, Mary was once again feeling sorry for herself. She cried that she felt crazy, because she hadn't done a good job attracting Mark. She said she'd had the power to prevent it, yet she hadn't. The others tried to reassure her, but you have to know they were secretly hoping she was right.

At the roller rink, Mark declared that the ladies should have a "limbo" contest. The winner would get some 1-on-1 time with Mark. They all gave it a good try, but Angela came closest when the bar got low. She slid under the pole, and landed on her butt. Jayanna pointed out that it didn't seem like that was a win, but Mark declared her the winner. They skated off together, holding hands. After a little while of this, Jen began to feel left out. She said she felt like "a teenager who likes a boy, and now the boy is with another girl.' So, she decided to cut in on the 1-on-1. Mark didn't seem to mind.

When Jen and Mark were alone, she said she felt selfish, but Mark told her not to worry about it. When they talked, she revealed that she's been married twice, and that her son is 25. Mark said he didn't really want to dwell on that, too much. He told her that she doesn't look her age.

After he left the older ladies, Mark wanted to get to know three of the younger gals a bit better. He decided that he has the most in common with Amanda, Adelaide and Megan. He invited them over to his home for some "games and food." The girls were excited to be the "chosen ones."

When they arrived, he greeted them with a polite hug or cheek kiss. He introduced them to his dog, Kia. He showed them that he had snacks available, and that the game he wanted them to play was DDR: Dance Dance Revolution. Mark enjoyed watching the girls, and was again impressed with Megan. He said she was "full of life."

Amanda didn't quite know how to react. She said she isn't really used to group dates.

The younger girls who hadn't been picked for the date were pouting, back at the suite. Lauren said they'd been treated like "Stepsisters", but Mary thought that because they were stuck cleaning up after the others, they were more like Cinderella.

Just before the girls left.....
