NBC LIED TO US
From TV Guide Online:
"WE WERE DUPED: Don't be fooled by last night's finale of Average Joe: Hawaii, folks. Despite what NBC led us to believe, pretty vapid boy Gil did not dump pretty vapid girl Larissa after learning that she once dated pretty vapid model Fabio. Appearing on the Today show this morning, the pretty vapid couple confirmed that they are still very much an item. Where does all this leave jilted everyman Brian? Pretty much better off."
Why did NBC feel the need do this? Did they feel this would be a more satisfying climax for the show's viewers?
There have been two editions of the show. Both times the gorgeous but shallow girl chose the gorgeous but shallow hunk. Maybe they felt they needed to have the woman get her just rewards, to punish her for making a shallow mistake, for rejecting the love and devotion of a good man. It's corny, trite, and wrong, but there is a long tradition of this sort of thing in Hollywood. As politicially correct as the left coast is, they stll hold women up to different standards than men. It's a shame they couldn't just play it straight. The truth, or what we saw of it, spoke volumes about the people involved and that was entertainment enough.
Hopefully they will do better with Average Joe 3.

Average Joe 2 - Hawaii premiers Monday, Jan. 5, 2004 on NBC
The buzz says it will be even more shallow and bizzare than Average Joe 1.
From the NBC Website:
"When our story begins, like Melana, (of Average Joe 1) Larissa does not have any idea she's about to meet Average Joes, and the guys are blissfully unaware that some new guys are about to crash the party (this time there's a lot more of them on the way).
And we promise we found even more new ways to twist up the show!
