The Bachelor: Ben's Babes Go Fly Fishing And Guy Fishing Commentary by RTVC Staff Writer Romantic Rose
January 27, 2012
Regular, not super.
On this week’s episode of The Bachelor, Ben and the girls travel to Park City, Utah, and we viewers get a new villain.
Two weeks ago, the episode was all about bashing Blakeley. Last week it was closing ranks against Shawntel’s attempt to join Ben’s babes.
Shawntel was banished without a single rose, and now we see that somehow, off camera, Blakeley has become one of the girls, so they can all join forces against the new Villain of the Week: Courtney.
Got thoughts? Post them at the end.
We also see Kacie B. turn into the girl who can’t handle the fact that Ben’s dating other girls, and throughout the episode, she tells us how hard it is.
The first date is a one-on-one, and Ben has chosen Rachel.
She gets the first helicopter date. They see gorgeous mountain scenery, canoe in a lake, and have an outdoor dinner.
Ben says he likes down-to-earth dates and wants to see if he and Rachel have chemistry. Rachel says in a past relationship, she had communications issues.
Conversation with Ben seems awkward and forced, and it looks like she may not get the rose.
Finally, over dinner, she opens up to Ben enough to earn the rose, and she’s rewarded with S’mores by a fire. Yum.
Ben says he likes what he saw and that their relationship could be a slow burn. I still didn’t see it.
She seems okay, not wacko, needy, or over-emotional, but every season there’s someone who has trouble opening up. If there’s not more chemistry than was shown, she’ll be going home soon.
Next up is the group date “Let’s see if you’re a great catch”, where Courtney truly takes on her role of Bad Girl of the Season.
Scenes from the date are intercut with private interviews in which Courtney talks about reeling in her man and the other girls talk about how fake Courtney is.
The date starts when Ben rides up on horseback, which the girls think is very romantic. Blakeley says she is a great catch.
Who wouldn’t want to take a VIP cocktail waitress you met on a reality show home to Mama?
Nicki says it’s the experience of a lifetime, with Ben’s hair blowing in the breeze like in a movie.
The girls all saddle up and mosey out. After horseback riding, the girls see waders and boots and all pretend to be thrilled at the idea of fly-fishing.
