The Bachelor: Hometown Date Results? In Ben World, Who Knows? Commentary by RTVC Staff Writer Romantic Rose

Stole her vows from
Sex In The City.
On this week’s episode of The Bachelor, Ben visits the hometowns of his final four.
The hometown episodes are always interesting, because they’re a break from the over-the-top fantasy of the other dates.
The Bachelor gets to see his final four in a different setting, and in this case, I think it changed Ben’s view of the girls.
Got thoughts? Post them at the end.
I wanted to get the male perspective on the dates, so I enlisted one of single guy friends (SGF) to watch it with me.
First up was Ben’s visit to Lindzi’s hometown of Ocala, Florida. She lives on a gorgeous horse farm with Spanish moss hanging from the trees. If Ben doesn’t pick her, I’ll move in and fulfill my pre-teen horse fantasy.
We can ride horseback together every day and talk about how mean boys are and how much better horses are.
Lindzi meets Ben on a horse. She really, really likes horses. If Ben wants to be with her, he’ll have to understand that horses will be a part of her life.
Falling off a horse is like falling in love. You have to be careful that you’re not trampled by the hooves of love. Okay, that’s not what she actually said. If you fall off, you have to get back in the saddle again.
Ben and Lindzi have a picnic, with her horse nearby. They discuss Lindzi’s guards and walls, and she tells Ben again that she was hurt in love in the past, but she’s back in the saddle again.
He’s impressed by her openness, and their talk seems to go well. I was distracted by the blinding whiteness of Lindzi’s teeth and by wondering how Ben’s hair would look if the date had been filmed in, say, August, when humidity in Ocala can be close to 100%.
Lindzi’s parents welcome Ben with a carriage race. It was playful, and Ben seems okay with it, although making the loser pull the winner back to dinner seemed an odd way to welcome a potential son-in-law. Maybe it’s a horse farm thing.
Anyway, compared to what Ben would face later, pulling a carriage was nothing. He and Lindzi didn’t look like they were sweating it.
Dinner is relaxed and casual. Lindzi’s parents mention Lindzi’s past relationship again. What did that guy do to her? Refuse to accept her need to hang out with horses?
Lindzi’s mom tells Ben they kept Lindzi busy with horses and cheerleading and away from boys.
