The Bachelor: The Crazy Catty Contest For Ben Begins Commentary by RTVC Senior Staff Writer Gayl Killough

So many women,
so little time.
Sweet 16, the 16th season of the Bachelor premiered with Ben Flajnik, the 28 year old winemaker.
Kind of hard to believe that it has been that many seasons, and The Bachelor franchise is still going strong.
While the Bachelor franchise would no doubt love to see Ben be married as a result of the show, the emphasis on finding a wife or husband seems to be more and more downplayed each season, even the part about finding true love seems to have taken a back seat to the romance of the journey along the way to finding true love.
Also, it is more and more about the interaction of the bachelorettes, the catfights, the tears, rejection, and wondering if one will ever find one's soul mate.
I am amazed at how well this show can make things go quickly or spread them out.
The meet the bachelor part of the show seems to go fairly quickly.
We are given a recap of how Ben proposed to Ashley, a big emphasis on the fact that Ben actually got down on his knee and proposed to Ashley, and that Ashley rejected him. Ben has his heart broken, but Ben has no regrets.
What Ben felt was the most important was the journey that he went through of opening his heart to someone.
Ben feels that he is a more complete and better person for having gone through the experience of being a bachelor on The Bachelorette.
Ben knows that he is ready and he knows what he is looking for.
I am going to interject here that I have only barely payed attention to the gossip about Ben going into this show, I like to watch this show as spoiler-free as possible, please don't spoil this season for me, but Ben does seem to have a strong physical preference for a particular type, and Ashley does fit Ben's physical type.
So while I don't think Ben's final pick will necessarily wind up looking like Ashley, I expect that that Ben will pay a little more attention to those that look like his physical preference.
Ben says at a later point in this show that he is really loving the brunettes, so particular looks may play a role. I will be paying a little more attention to the contestants that seem to fit what I think is Ben's physical type.
