The Bachlorette: The Final Predictions
Commentary and Spoiler by Jenny Lane
July 7, 2008
Tonight is the finale of The Bachelorette, and the rumor mills are spinning! Last week, DeAnna revealed that she is in fact in love and engaged. Now there is speculation that she is perhaps pregnant, or that she perhaps already eloped with her chosen one!
There was also supposed to be an ‘engagement party’ episode, but that has been removed from the lineup and replaced with a ‘where are they now’ episode. Why would ABC do that? Either they decided that the fans will be upset with her choice and wouldn’t have tuned into the engagement party, or maybe one of the rumors is in fact true.
I also heard that DeAnna chose Jason, they broke up, she got together with Jesse, and they reshot the finale to make it look like she chose Jesse to begin with. I even heard that Fleiss (Bachelorette’s producer) ‘broke up’ Jason and DeAnna so that she would pick Jesse. I don’t think that’s the case, I’m just throwing it out there.
I’ve been scouring the internet for clues, and not surprisingly, there are convincing leaks and pics and arguments to say that either of the guys is the final guy.
There’s a lot of talk about the placement of flowers in the final sequence moving, and which side of the limo the ‘rejected guy’ gets out of, and I have to say that I’m not interested enough to wade through all of that information. However, here’s one that did seem worth passing on. When DeAnna is getting ready to talk to Jesse, she looks very serious and sad. When she sees Jason approaching her, she’s beaming, and has the same look that she did when she announced her engagement. There are also tons of pictures out there showing her kissing Jason in what looks to be a happy post-engagement moment. So she picked Jason, just as I predicted!
Of course, you could say that it’s reverse psychology, and since all of the clues point to Jason, that means that Jesse is the final pick. That’s what they always do, right?
There is a shot of the guys in the limo, and it’s edited to make us think that it’s Jesse after being rejected, holding the ring and wondering what happened. Of course there’s the possibility that this shot was taken on his way to the ceremony, as he’s nervous and thinking about proposing. Hmm….
After researching this limo idea further, I see some photos of Jason in the limo, in what I had previously thought was his way to the final shot. But Jason looks upset, even angry, so maybe it’s him right after being rejected? Could it be?
If you think about it, Graham and Jesse were the two wildcards. Jason and Jeremy are solid, dependable guys who would be fantastic husbands. But it was Graham that DeAnna was ga-ga about. And let’s also think back to Brad, he also didn’t fit the mold of a ‘solid, dependable’ guy, and she fell for him too. I think DeAnna was hoping that she’d eventually fall for Jesse, and on their overnight date, she did.
So, I have now officially changed my opinion. I’m buying into the reverse psychology theory, I say Jesse is the final guy, and hats off to the editors for making me think otherwise until now.
I can’t believe that both of these guys actually propose to DeAnna. It stuns me season after season that people really do that, on national TV no less.
If in fact DeAnna chooses Jesse, shame on the producers for putting so much focus on Jason’s son Ty during the hometown date. And in a way, shame on DeAnna for keeping him around if she knew she wasn’t going to choose him. (Ack, no hate mail!!)
One more thing…keep an eye on DeAnna’s pantyline during the finale. I hear that her dress is see-through, making her underpants the star of the final scene!
Whew, I officially have a Bachelorette headache, and it’s still hours until the finale!
