Last night on the Bachelorette, Jillian Harris and her remaining ten bachelors continued to travel through Canada, this time hanging out in a favorite hangout spot of hers, Whistler, British Columbia. Jillian announces that she is not looking for a cliché in a husband, but she that is looking for a partner.
There were three date set-ups: two individual dates and one remaining group date of eight bachelors. The first bachelor to receive one of the individual dates is Michael, and Jillian tells him on the date card to come fly high with her. Michael is very excited to finally get some one-on-one time with her. Michael seems to be naturally over the top and he is high energy.
Just for fun, I decided to keep a running list of all the traits that Jillian says that she wants in a life partner. Separately, I have been keeping a rough list of the traits that I think each bachelor has and then matching up the lists against each other. This is especially a challenge based on how highly edited that the Bachelorette is for a show and it is not at all scientific, but interesting anyway. To my surprise, on paper at least, Michael seems to be have the most traits that Jillian has stated that she wants. This is why I have continued to rank Michael so high. However, no bachelor seems to have all of the traits and there is still a lot to learn about Michael too. Part of why Michael ranked so high last week though is because the show was throwing out negative feedback about the perceived frontrunners. Ironically, I expect my assessment of Michael to go down a little just by having a little more information about him.
Michael gets to go ziplining with Jillian and he thinks it is oh my awesomeness. I am really glad that Michael gets to go on adventurous date like this because I remember thinking about much he would have enjoyed Ed's date off the skyscraper. This is another aerial date for Jillian. I have to comment that I can see why people see him as being kiddish, but I honestly don't see him as being immature at all. In my opinion, Wes is the bachelor that seems the most immature and Wes is one of the older bachelors of the entire season.
The one trait that I did leave off my lists was age. I did not want to judge the bachelors on age. All of the bachelors are close enough to Jillian's age that I don't see age as a problem in and of itself. The other reason, is that I have personal bias toward matching women with slightly younger guys. Yes, I am well aware that my natural instincts are in the minority and that I brush against the norms of society. I don't do it on purpose to be rebellious or anything like that, so I was trying to behave and keep in mind that this is about what Jillian wants in a life partner. The less I consider age, the more neutral I feel about my selections. Despite my attempts at complete neutrality for age, I still wound up with a younger guy in the lead on my lists. I think it could have gone either way though for age. So far, Jillian seems to be picking guys independent of age for the most part. However, I probably should have considered Michael's youth and I am already anticipating that Jillian will think he is not ready enough eventually, but in the meantime I am stoked that Michael is getting an individual date.
They honestly seem.....
