Last night on the After the Rose Ceremony for The Bachelorette, Host Chris brings up that it was only the last time on the After the Rose Ceremony that caused a shock wave felt beyond reality television when Jason “dumped” Melissa on national television. Host Chris then mentions before they bring out the happy couple of Jillian and Ed, that they are going to briefly catch up with how Melissa is doing now.
Right off the bat, this is a lot of information. Since Chris mentions the happy couple of Jillian and Ed, he is telling me not to expect a repeat of what happened with Jason, Melissa, and Molly. Then I feel really bad because I am a little bit disappointed and I should not feel that way. I should be happy for Jillian and Ed. I honestly do really want is best for Jillian, especially since this is her real life. However, there is something about Ed that I did not like, but I don't know what it is about Ed that I don't like, and it bothers me that I can't figure out either. Ed just seemed off or fishy to me during the season. Maybe it was just the way Ed was edited and for Jillian's sake I hope I am wrong about having misgivings about Ed for Jillian. This is the first time watching the After the Rose Ceremony for The Bachelorette that I am not totally happy for the final couple, so it felt weird watching this episode.
I have seen Melissa in other interviews, and Melissa seemed like she felt really uncomfortable being back. I don't blame her after what happened to her. Having to re-watch being dumped by Jason could not have helped her mood any either. Melissa has moved on and is really happy now. She said it was such a crazy week and that everyone back home was right there for her and really supportive. Shortly there after the dump she received the call to appear on Dancing With The Stars. Melissa was already back in her cube at work and thought her boss was playing a joke on her. Melissa was really surprised. Since then she gotten another opportunity with Good Morning America so now she feels the sky is the limit. At an earlier point before the opportunities came her way, she had made a list of what she had wanted to accomplish and she was really disappointed that she had failed, so it shows that life can turn around really quickly. The list maker in me was happy that Melissa makes lists too.
Host Chris asked Melissa in several ways if she was happy that because she was dumped that she, Jason, Molly, and Jillian have gone on to bigger and better opportunities. I believe that Melissa wanted to be dumped in private rather than public, because everyone saw the hurt and the crying. So while, Melissa is not wanting to be with Jason, I can tell she did not like the public way in which it was done. Host Chris talks about meeting her friend and ex-boyfriend while visiting Melissa on the set of Dancing With the Stars. She said that he did not start out dating him, they started back as friends, but it progressed romantically and now Melissa is engaged.
Next up, Kiptyn is the studio. They make him re-watch his final day in Hawaii when Jillian rejected him. If the contestants are not feeling bad before they come to this show, they feel bad after having to watch clips of painful moments. Kiptyn had no regrets, he kept it real, and stayed true to himself. He did not tell Jillian that he loved her till the proposal, and he did not regret telling her earlier. He said that Jillian is an open book, so he could tell that when her expression changed that he was not her final selection. He said he did his best to keep it together.
Host Chris brings up the irony.....
