The Bachelorette: Grillin In The Park, Hurray For Dollywood And Shelly Scrambled

No fat girls.
In the latest episode of The Bachelorette, Emily starts her day the way all single moms do—with breakfast in bed, while her daughter plays quietly nearby.
Since Emily is still tragically single, her mom brought her breakfast. It was a sweet gesture and one that I think should inspire moms everywhere.
Mom, I’m available most mornings. No pulp in the orange juice, okay?
Meanwhile, Chris Harrison hands the bachelors the first date card of the evening.
Got thoughts? Post them at the end.
It’s for Bachelor Chris, and it says, “Love is a steady climb.”
Chris is excited. Emily thinks he’s so cute. They walk through the uncrowded streets of downtown Charlotte and come to the building where they’ll have their date, but surprise! Two ropes dangle down!
As Emily puts it, “There ain’t no elevators, honey.” Get it? Love is a steady climb, and they’re actually climbing! Towards love! Who could have seen that coming?
Chris gets major points for figuring out what the ropes are for, not making a big deal about it, and being all manly about it on the way up.
He reassures Emily when she’s scared, and even the required metaphor isn’t too bad. He says love is like climbing a rope. You start at the bottom and hopefully get to the top.
Emily hopes to find her adventurous side and not cry like a baby.
The first hint of trouble comes when Chris is unable to reach Emily for the standard mid-air kiss. At the top he settles for a high-five. That’s okay; it’s still early.
Dinner conversation goes Chris’s way. Emily tells him she would be too nervous to talk to him in a bar, because he’s so good-looking.
She asks about his past relationships, and when he says he’s only had one, she learns he’s only 25. She seems to think that’s too young, but he recovers with the first (but not last) “I’m so ready to be a husband and father” speech of the night.
Emily gives him the rose, and they go rock out to Metallica. No, just kidding, it’s country music again. This time it’s Luke Bryant. I don’t know his music, but he’s kind of a hottie.
Chris and Emily dance, and he asks if he can kiss her when the song is over. Whoa, Chris, you just lost half the manliness points you scored on the rope climb.
