The Bachelorette: Emily Goes Holm Sweet Holm

Is a walk in the
park enough?
This week on The Bachelorette, Emily gets a quick visit with Ricki before she sets off on her hometown adventures.

She and Ricki hug, and she asks Ricki if she wants to sleep in Mommy’s bed.

Ricki says yes, but minutes later, we see Emily tucking her into her own bed. What? That’s not the kind of promise my daughter would ever, ever, ever forget.

Anyway, since all is well at Casa Emily, she leaves Ricki again and begins her tour round, well, the central United States.

Got thoughts? Post them at the end.

A Polish Polka in Chicago
Early favorite Chris had his first one-on-one date in Charlotte, where Emily kept talking about how handsome he was.

Since then, group dates, arguments about his age, and jealousy of the other guys almost got him eliminated. Chi-town may be Chris’s last chance, so he needs a great date.

Chris is standing waiting for the date to begin, but Ninja Emily somehow manages to sneak up on him.

They walk around the city, while he describes his family: “On a scale of 1 to Polish, we’re Polish.” First Travis’s 1 to 8 scale, then John, now Chris’s Polish scale. I did NOT know the Bachelorette was going to be all about math this season, and I’m guessing Emily didn’t either.

Next, Chris takes Emily to a Polish bar, and it’s every bit as happenin’ as you would imagine.

He tells her how much he loves his family and says his sister Renee will be the toughest person to win over.

The family seems very close. Chris’s father, with a heavy Polish accent, talks to Emily, while Chris’s mother tells Chris to fight for Emily.

Sister Renee is the most skeptical. She’s worried Chris will get his heart broken and asks Emily to let Chris go sooner rather than later, if he’s not the one.

Outside, Chris and Emily kiss, and Chris tells Emily he loves her.

We hear polka music and see dancing, and Emily talks about what a great family Chris has.

Unfortunately, she does not talk about what great chemistry she has with Chris. I’m afraid the Polish polka in Chi-town is Chris’s last dance, unless one of the other families lives surrounded by dead animals (Ali’s season) or holds a creepy funeral for a dead bird (Jason’s season).
