Big Brother 14: Ice Cold Dan The Smoothy Man Commentary by RTVC Senior Staff Writer Cindy Rutolo Dietrich September 16, 2012
Manipulation for
fun and profit.
I watched Big Brother's Dan Gheesling shove cold fries in his mouth.
He was completely nonchalant. He was making a left over tray ready for the oven. As usual, he was as cool as a cucumber.
He doesn't show signs of remorse. He’s as cool as ice. If he’s feeling anything, it’s utter delight.
Once again, his plan to manipulate everyone is going as smoothly as a smoothie.
Oh yeah, Dan is a smoothie all right. There is however, something off, about how he comes across, you know, on a human level.
He’s definitely good at the ‘game’ part of the Big Brother experience .
Got thoughts? Post them at the end.
But he’s definitely lacking in the empathy department.
He seems to have a real problem when it comes to showing honest, to goodness, human emotion, at least inside the Big Brother House.
See, it’s not his moves, that I object to. It’s his Diary Room words that upset me before.
There’s a pathological aloofness about him that’s hard to describe. But, hey, I’ll give it another try.
Britney Haynes pointed it out, during the waning hours of her stay in the Big Brother House. She tried to call Dan out. Wanted to scream and shout. Felt she’d gotten a raw deal.
But Britney found that she couldn’t even get Dan to engage in a conversation, let alone look her in the eyes.
He seems to have trouble dealing with upsetting emotions. And they’re bound to pop up, especially in the Big Brother House.
Dan seems to look , at the emotional hurt, he’s caused along the way, as collateral damage.
Though slightly annoying, he seems cool with it, as long as it gets him closer to winning the half million dollars.
And I’m totally aware, that everyone wants to win the half million dollars. It’s a large part of being on Big Brother.
Everyone wants to win that much money. I just think that other things should be considered as well.
Like how you do it. How you treat one another along the way. That should be considered, when you’re climbing over bodies to get to the top.
