Big Brother: Everything We Know So Far
Commentary and Report by Big Sister

Thursday night at 8pm e/p Big Brother 8 will premiere. Here is everything we know about the 8th season.
There will be 14 houseguests this year. There has been some speculation about a 15th hamster because when the TV Guide Network ran their preseason report they had interviews with 15 people. We think they just screwed up and included an alternate named Samantha. Nothing we have seen indicates she is actually on the show.
For details on the interviews, click here.
The theme for this summer is "Worst Enemies" according to CBS. Once again we don't have strangers entering the house but rather people who have some sort of pre-existing relationship. And all the relationships have gone bad for one reason or another. We have uncovered details on two of those relationships.
Daughter Daniele and Daddy Dick
Twenty year old Daniele is the estranged daughter of 44 year old, self-described, "Evil" Dick. I don't know about evil. People's understanding of that word can differ and I'm not sure I would describe him as "evil". But, "pig", "jerk", and "asshole" do come to mind.
You can find out the details about daughter Daniele and daddy Dick by clicking here.
We have also confirmed a relationship between two 21 year old females; Carol and Jessica. They are both from Haysville, Kansas and are both dancers. We don't know the cause of the conflict between the two, however we know it must be deep. Carol's dad has said there is a chance she will walk out of the house as soon as she knows that Jessica is there. He calls it a "one in three chance". Carol's daddy is Kansas State Senator Phil Journey who is known for his very conservative viewpoint. You have to wonder how daddy is going to feel about seeing his little girl cavort around the house. If she doesn't walk out.
We now know what the interactive twist is that CBS has been hyping for the last month without telling us about it. Maybe they kept it secret because they know how much many of us are going to hate it. Here's how CBS described it in a press release:
|
"One participant has been selected to be "America's Player." At the conclusion of every episode, beginning Sunday, July 8 (8:00-9:00 ET/PT), a question will be asked of viewers where they will vote on an important assignment that "America's Player" must complete. It could be a strategic move or a personal action. They must attempt to do what viewers request, including voting out a specific Houseguest. And, they can never tell anyone in the house that they are working on behalf of the viewers. But, they need to be careful...just like their fellow Houseguests, they can be voted out at any time. If "America's Player" successfully accomplishes these assignments, they will be financially rewarded. Viewers will be able to vote on cbs.com or via text messaging on a mobile phone and will choose from multiple choice answers on each question. The prevailing vote must be completed by "America's Player" in order for him or her to be rewarded."
